i'm still amazed how good the roc is on tyres, both of our cars are on SMT so i don't tend to swap the fronts and rears, however, in the case of the roc this time i did as new with smt i'd get conti SP3s

hand a morning at national tyres a few weeks ago as roc needed two fronts and the GTI all four changing, both cars are running similar levels of performance and know noticable change since mapped

Rocco has done 41K, its on its 3rd set of fronts and 2nd set of rear, in reality the new fronts were prompted by a puncture and had a few miles left in them

GTI has done 31K, its now on its 4th set of fronts and 2nd set of rears, can't get more than 10k out the fronts, the rear hads done 31k and gone out ouf shape of the inner edge so car drove was driving a sack of spuds

Seem ok so far.
i prefer these to the pirellis, they are better in the wet, only thing i don't like is the rim protector is fugly

i'd been keen to try some ps3s in the future

Just under 12k on my original Bridgestone REO50A's and the fronts are shot!

Driving at the moment with the tyres the way they are and the weather the way it is is a comedy process but can't decide on just new tyres (the cheap, sensible option) or new wheels and tyres (the prefered, expensive option!)

Had some Uniroyal Rainsport 2 tyres fitted yesterday and first impressions are very good.

Although in an EOS (demo car for day), I found the sport contact 3's pretty good in the damp and cold, grip was good, even with ESP off and heavy right foot. Although ultimately, I think if it was summer and dry, sport maxx GT's would have them.

well I've got just 3mm left on the fronts after 9000 of 'normal' driving on continental sport contact. This looks a bit low for me. Wonder if I would have driven hard what I would have got.

I've done sod all driving recently (couple hundred miles at most), and my dunlops look crap. Probably 3mm tread at most. Track day just melted them, and winter just finishing them off. Thought I might get another track day out of the fronts, but looks very unlikely. Good tyre in dry, not good in wet, and poor wear. And I've done about 4500miles! I dont drive fast on the road either.

Sport contact 5P's and set of wheels with winter tyres.

You'd have thought so. But I lost about 3-4mm on the track (granted, was a lot of track time). Think they probably got too hot, ESP couldnt deal with the inside wheel slip. Hey ho, part of the fun, lol.

I doubt i'll ever get to minimum tread wear whilst own a Roc - 3 pot-hole knacked tyres in 16,000 miles, and the UK winter has barely started!
