who are the women to tell us what car to drive?

we don't tell them what color underwear to buy, what leather shoes/ handbag combo to buy, so why do they dare tell us what to buy or not!

we bring back the bacon ( hard enough in this recession hit times) and we can eat it how we like!

come on guys! Do what you must with your car, and let the wives deal with their own businesses. You are buying a car, not killing someone.

They can waste our money and give us broken hearts, but NEVER let them take away our freedom! NEVER!

I bought mine, partly because I was told not to :D (Good old don't waste money line).
Didn't completely believe me when I said I'd ordered one, so didn't mention it again until the day I went to pick it up... (admittedly only a week later).

Gave the free box of chocolates I got with the car to soften the blow...

Now there's a man who isn't whipped, good on you! If it's your money, buy the car...nothing to do with the woman.

My experience was completely the opposite, I wanted an Audi A3 but my girldfriend pushed and pushed for the Scirocco. 4 months on and I don't know what I was thinking, nothing comes close the Scirocco. Only downside is she will hold that over my head as long as I live.

Ok, so I know who to ask for advice next time I need a new car!

Downtown... Why did you ever think of getting an A3? :? - If you wanted 5 seats/doors a Golf Mk6 would have been a better bet imho.

I had a thing for Audi's and it clouded my judgement, all it took was some arm twisting from the girlfriend and one Scirocco test drive to change my mind. At 24 I'm probably a bit young for something as sensible as an A3 or a Golf (sans the GTi). So glad I listened, feel like I'm part of a right little exclusive club here.

Though I noticed despite your need to not be sensible, somehow she convinced you to get a diesel
If Audi was your thing, bit surprised you didn't go for an Audi TT.

Anyway, at least you don't have to live with the misery of going against her wishes!

Though check, it might be cheaper to insure her too. But better on your sanity to not tell her you did :p
Unless she's a better driver than you

Sorry to hear that. I guess that's one way of getting out of worrying about acceptance!
I guess the plan you mentioned to use most of your monthly income has been dropped now too, so at least you can get some extras for the car
