Yeah mate, my old car is a black mk4 gti golf

Its a bitch to keep clean but I fell in love with it when I first purchased it all clean and shiny.

Yours looks great, some good photo's there. I dont think my price range will get me such a great example but we'll see :)

know what you mean, high maintenance to keep black looking good, but the reflections are soo worth it when it's been detailed!

so looking at continuing the blues from the dials and footwells theme a bit, found this little blue R badge for the front. kinda weird having colour on the outside but leaving it on for a bit. good quality though, even came in a nice box:

also updated the rns firmware to get 7 digit postcodes working at last and then installed version 12 maps - which came from eBay for just 23 quid! firmware update was free from the web (one of josi's updates) but took a ton of research and removal of the head unit. much nervousness. it repartitioned my drive so i've got a lot of music to copy again. still, can get to where i want to go, guess that's the main thing...

love the bodykit on the r but wanted a less smooth back end so ordered a diffuser - which was held up by customs for a week before i could get my hands on it:

wasn't a fan of the carbon fibre look so had it painted black to match the bodywork:

then fitting:

and after a day re-fitting it myself (lots of dremel action) finally got a chance to take a decent pic of it in daylight. um, not sure about it yet, probably cos it's such a big change. gonna leave it on for now to see if i get used to it. opinions welcome, good or bad...

I think it looks great. Makes the back look a bit meaner which suits the way it looks from the front as well.

Hmmmmm I'm not a fan of that. I prefer standerd diffuser. Car still looks fantastic btw. Just had a look around and a local vw dealer has got a deep black r for sale. Mmmmm tempting haha.

Would you be able to post the part number from your standard R diffuser/splitter? I want to compare with the part which I have purchased for my facelift model.
