Hi, had my diving lights changed under warranty due to water slapping around inside (only after an argument though) but they flatly refused to change my indicators as they only had large beads of water on them and this was deemed to be "Normal" and did not warrant replacement, after only 6000mls I am a bit miffed, I was told its quite common but looking at over 20 cars or so I could not see any signs of this. May well try and dry them out myself, I really would have thought a VW was better than this, maybe I am wrong ?

I've noticed today some damp in the drivers side headlight,Anyone else had any problem with this ?

Condensation is quite common in cold damp conditioms. If you do a search you willnsee it has been discussed many tikes before

The condensation I had in mine was quite bad, big drops of water and so much condensation the bulbs couldn't be seen. I put some satchets of Gel in and this helped but never cleared.
On closer inspection I noticed the wiring block that feeds the bulbs (sits just behind the light unit) had a minor crack in it, ( I informed the VW dealer as to why it was cracked and they said as I had the car for two months without complaint I didn't have a case) The connecter block was sprayed with some silicon spray then wrapped in insulation tape and the light has remained as clear as a bell through all weathers with no sign of any condensation.

What has it got to do with how long you have put up with the problem - if the car is still under warranty?

The dealer stated that the car had a full inspection for faults and none were found when I picked the car up and I signed the paperwork to say there were no faults( it was used, bought from a VW dealer) so basically what they are saying is that the crack in the connecter block was caused by myself which it wasn't but there is no way I can prove that.
Can't think why the connector block should be cracked though unless someboby has attempted to disconect the lights for some reason.

I have never heard such rubbish from a dealer and they need to be brought to task immediately. They cannot hold you responsible for finding technical faults that might have been present when you collected nor faults that developed later - thats what a warranty is for and you are not the technical specialist, they are (allegedly)! The idea that you 'sign away' responsibility on collecting the car simply because no faults seemed to be present is just simply outrageous and VW UK would take a dim view of the conduct of the dealer.

I would suggest you either:

Take it to another dealer or contact VW UK and complain about the conduct of the first one. This is precisely why you bought the car from a franchised dealer - for the protection afforded by the warranty - not to be told that you have caused a cracked connector block yourself!
