JG400 wrote:So is that built in week 44 or started in week 44 , my lease people tell me there is a 4 week lead time after the build week (which is when I assumme the car is built? and covers for shipping hanging about at factory and destination I assumme) for the car to appear at the dealers .
Also as above , if I rang VW customer service what would the ask me for to identify the order ? I have an order number but what does a VW order number look like , mine is 7 numbers, alternatively could they find it by my name?
44 means its a day during Wk44 it departs the factory for the quayside.
It can be little as 6 days if everything is timed right ie, hardly a day waiting time at the quayside - 1 day, express to Sheerness -3 days, paperwork & transporter in UK - 2 days. All a matter of timing and which route as some go via Germany and a second ship plus not all dealers get their deliveries quickly away from the UK docks. Hence the safety of 4 weeks so as not to disappoint. The only reason I wasn't driving on the 7th day was a hiccup at the bank.

This from a reliable source in the (lease) trade and as of an hour ago:-
'...I have been talking to VW Fleet who have confirmed that any vehicle ordered today would arrive in March 2011.'
This comment has lead me to cancel the original order in favour of a change of spec, as another lease company had a Deep Black GT 2.0 TSi 210 with DVD/Sat/Nav & rear parking sensors available in 7 - 10 days! Obviously a cancellation and yes, a lot more money, but I must be honest, I really wanted a petrol 210 but didn't want to mess about with the order in light of the possible effect on lead-time.
So, I hope to be driving around in my Roc by the end of next week - just in time for the start of the snow up here in Bonny Scotland!

I guess if you know the date up front and it is accurate then that is ok , (if frustrating) , my annoyance is that it looks like mine will be 2 months late

I asked my sales and he told me that my order Sumatra Scirocco is on Build week 41. And according to the other reply here, it means the rocco leave the factory (in Germany) and bring to Quayside.
So, the rests will be the shipment and the delivery, am I right?
my car is scheduled to be delivered to me in December some day (I m in Hong Kong). So, its the normal delivery lead time?

Well, today did not go to plan, as i suspected.
to cut a long story short... the dealer tells me their 'system' is not letting them print the neccesary documentation as it's all on 'the old system' not the 'new system' and currently the old system is 'down' - now i'm aware there was a change of systems, however, one would have expected the details to be migrated across... apparantly not.
They have confirmed the car is there, albeit not yet registered, and are now estimating a futher 2 days to do the neccesary with paperwork... due to pick it up onFriday.
we'll see...

Your Scirocco having left the VW factory at Palmela, Portugal week 41 will be sitting on the quayside at the port of Setúbal, Portugal awaiting the ship called
Emden due to dock tomorrow morning. Then loaded tomorrow for the port of Emden, Germany and onwards to
Hong Kong, sailing schedule is at the bottom of the post

When you read through the back posts , it definately does seem to be the TDI 140's that are the problem ,I guess they are the most popular out the range. Looking at other posts , I am expecting a build date email pretty soon so applying the 4 + 4 rule that suggests back end of dec for delivery which sort of ties in with the date I currently have (Dec 13th)
My understanding (to add to the rumour mill) is that UK dealers got there demand forecasts for this year wrong and therefore VW cannot keep up with UK demand (or won't keep up with UK demand at the expense of other non uk dealers who got their figures right)
I am just going to have to sit tight and wait I guess. I am still not convinced about this Blue Motion Stop Start story ,I cannot find this anywhere else on the net bar here , anyone got any links?

They've just stood another ship down. This time its one of the regular large ships African Highway. That's effectively half the shipments from Setúbal in every 14 day period gone as of this week.

How do you interpret that , Not enough demand for ships because no demand for cars or Not enough demand for ships because no work is being done , any precidents set in previous years to use as an example?

Not enough demand for ships because no demand for cars
No previous pattern, the decline started in late August with spot hire sailings from Portugal reducing in frequency. Loosing the above is significant reduction in transportation capacity.

Being new to this order process, I was told on the 13th October that my 140 TDI was on the production line and was due out of there in Week 44.
Due in Ireland before Christmas.
Would the changing shipping capacity mean the car would be sitting dockside waiting or would it have already been assigned a ship?

It appears there has been some official VW response re Bluemotion for TDI 140's , I can't make sense of the info I have been given (it talks about tackling current orders in Weeks 43 -45 ) any one with a Commision number (I don't get to see one) and is awaiting delivery of a TDI might give VW customer services a ring and clarify what they are saying ? and relay here

they do not leave cars sat on the dockside so I suggest you give your dealer a kick & ask where on earth it is as its had plenty of opportunities to get even part way to the UK.

Just rang Customer Services (without a commision number ) and chap told me that with regards TDI 140's anything built after week 45 will have blue motion anything before won't
He maintained I could still get a build date before 45 even though I haven't had one yet

Has anyone who ordered a 140 mid september got a build week as yet ? I'm starting to get a little uptight about this, doesn't help when my lease co will not return my calls or emails !

There are people on here that ordered way before then and have not recieved a build date as of yet. So I wouldn't be uptight at the moment,
