Scirocco Central

Having ordered my scirocco R on the 28th April I was given unconfirmed build week 42 that has now changed to unconfirmed week 50 :-( VW has offered me a courtesy car this week and the dealer told me I was price protected against the VAT increase.

Little bit confuesed how the build week relates to time or order, reading this thread some people end up weighting considerable lengths of time whilst others seem to get confirmed dates quickly.

Would have thought they would have been built in order but this appears not to be the case. I asked my dealer but got a duff response about Europe having the pick and the uk taking 2nd place.

Placed order in week 19 still unconfirmed at week 46, from 44, 40, 36.

there is no correlation. depends more on the spec you've chosen and what parts have potential supply problems.

Ordered my R 8th may, originally told to expect September delivery (lol).
Now looking at build week 44 but have a funny feeling the dealer may be avoiding my call as he's been reluctant to stick with the part ex they offered at order time.

Accept that, but two cars of identical spec you'd expect to be on a first come first served basis or does size of dealership and chain make a difference.

How do dealership allocations work and effect this, or is that just more dealer nonesense

Dealers are given an allocation of how many sciroccos they can order per month. The R was further restricted in the fact only 250 can be ordered by VW Uk with VW AG. I think they've already hit this limit and so are now having to use next years allocation. Something like that anyway!

Trix can explain more if she reads this, but it's been talked about before anyway (have a search perhaps)

BW 42 unconfirmed now - will be 7 months from when ordered to delivery. If it's by then!

I'm still waiting for a build date, I ordered in may est delivery early sept?

Since monday I've been driving a 60 plate 170hp td blue scirocco with alot of extras fresh out of the showroom.(very nice car, just makes me want my R even more!)
VW uk are sending another car for me in the next couple of weeks untill my r is delivered, which could be january?!
I was going to cancel but I dont mind waiting if VW are going to look after me?

ladyroc have you been given any type of comp for waiting the best part of a year?

Would everyone of ordered if they knew about these delays??

Just called my dealer confirmed build date wk44 delivery Nov (ordered 8th May), did tell me one other customer ordered before me with DSG box now talking next year for delivery !!

Think it's time I stop calling VW, every time I call I seem to get 2 weeks added to my still unconfirmed build week.

Anyway I have slipped again now being forecast as week 49.... Deep joy add 4 weeks for shipping and it looks like early Jan.

Asked why this was and told "don't worry some people have weighted longer, it's due to demand"

Do I stay or do I can it....... All I want is a confirmed date.

My dealer is useless, VW customer services is worse....

if you read this thread, you may have gathered there is a good chance the DSG box is causing delays.

There's plenty of rumours out there that this is the case, even if VWCS can't/won't say it.

If you can't wait, then by all means cancel the order and find a used one or another car altogether.

And remember, some people have been waiting for 10 months so far...and only now have they got a confirmed BW.

Finally dealer has got back to me !!! Confirmed build week 42!!! Delivery mid November !!! That's 13 months since deposit was first made !!!!!!!!! Unbelievable !!!!

My dealer said it would be a 20 weeks of waiting should I order one from him.

I just realised the road tax on a Scirocco R is £425 per annum thats crazy!!

Its not, if you read the page correctly, thats the first year.

Its £235 a year after that

Errrr No!

That's the new car tax they introduced. It'll be part of the OTR price. Going forward it'll be £235 per year that you pay yourself per the standard rate table - the R is 189 on the CO2 front from memory

Farewell everyone, cancelled my order after VW cs saying most likely now scheduled for next year.

Farewall roc r hello Audi ttrs (dealer had one on forecourt ready to go) would have been rude not to.

Ordered my R on 19th May. Initial delivery estimate of August but put back 4 times. Now have an unconfirmed build week of 19th November.
