Last time it was TPS and they was not on the system but it has been a while.

well another update on the brakes situation....
was at the annual VW Driver Track Day at Castle Combe this weekend. Weather conditions were NOT good...morning started with a major deluge and the track was way beyond "mildly moist" to say the least.
Still when it stopped raining i ventured out with Jane in passenger seat to give her first ever outing on track.
ESP flashing everywhere...320bhp was useless..but it was funny anyway sliding our way round
Afternoon the blue skies finally arrived and the track actually dried out completely, so off we went out for some more laps.
OEM 345mm Discs and Pads were fitted last month, and my experience with these brakes on track last year and in the GTI is that they should be able to handle 3-4 sessions spread out.
For some reason that didn't happen today. They lasted 2 laps before brake judder was getting very very bad..never felt the steering wheel vibrate so much before! Even Jane felt the juddering from the passenger seat. Thinking my wheel nuts "may" have been loose we went back into the pits to check them (did take my torque wrench but weather was sooo poor didn't check them prior to going out). But all the nuts were fine.
Speaking to Jim from JKM it seems the discs were just simply over heating and warping. Doh. So sessions 2 and 3 were cut short to just 3-4 laps.
So I'm beginning to think that track days in the R is over. Already booked in for Trax so I'll do that and take it easy. Audi Driver in October I will just be spectating and taking pics.
Idea is spending £2k on a proper Road/Track brake set up...I could use that money to buy an oldish banger and turn that into a track day hack. Already looking at something 4WD with boooooost.
So that's it on the modding front for the R. It'll do me nicely as my daily to work and road trips to whereever.
Let the track day toy planning begin.

Another Brake update!
Well having thought about it a bit more.... I decided to upgrade the brakes on the R anyway

Big thanks to James for also fitting them today and his Mrs for making a very nice cuppa
The AP 4 pots are worth every penny!
That REALLY should be it for mods now
unless I can fit a set of these
