Personally unless it's something interesting I just let em pass, no point trying when the result is inevitable :D

However I did have Corsa scream past me on the wrong side whilst following traffic on the A40 between Witney/Cheltenham recently, curious to find out what it was packing to try such brave overtake I gave chase when the opportunity arose only to discover it was a 1.2 70bhp... Driven by a genuine 100% nutter. :rally: Sometimes it turns out all you need is no fear of having a head on with truck.

How about people pulling in front of you on motorways when there are no cars behind you? I found this a lot with just the DRLs on, but now I drive with dipped lights all the time people let me pass first and pull out behind. Anybody else have this experience?

I tend to find most people move out of my way in mine. Then the road becomes clear and I put my foot down and nothing happens......haha!! mine is only the 140bhp 2.0TDI GT and you do have to wind it up!!

I am very impressed by how well it handles though. Do they mostly come with the Pirelli P7's like mine??

O yeah it kicks Audi ass, my car also has a Bluefin remap so it should have over 300 BHP

"should" being the main word when making that claim.

then again we have been here before...claim of a BF mapped R doing amazing 0-60 times and beating some big bhp cars! ;)

One of the reasons I noticed the effect the Scirocco seems to have on BMW drivers is that their reputation had improved over the past few years. The knobs seemed to have moved on to Audis.

Next set of traffic lights his window was up and he didn't look at me lol
I tend to find this, constantly get ppl in mk4 GTIs trying it.. . The majority of the time I just let them wheel spin away from the lights and just pull away normally, they look like proper d*cks then.

i'm still amazed at over 2.5 years of ownership the attention the scirocco gets (not sure if thats because it modded slightly)

an encounter with a old bmw z3 made me think of this thread given i thought i was towing him on a packed a34 in oxford, pulled over in good time for junction and z3 owner then attaches himself to another car, alas his attempts at being a smart arse failed when it was obvious he wanted to leave at same junction and i wasn't in a generous mood to back off to let him in so he had to get back in line :D

oddly the last two nights i've encountered two different old ibizas driven by chavs but i just let them go

Nope, mine's bog standard and I can't believe the attention it gets.

2 days after I picked it up I parked it on quite a busy road with a lot of pedestrian traffic as well. As I was returning to my car I noticed lots of passers by turning their heads to look as they passed my Scirocco. Maybe it's the colour? (Or maybe they thought it was a squashed Golf with a fat arse?! :p )

Yeah whilst they are certainly more common, the right combination of colour, alloys and mods will attract attention - I can honestly say people have gotten their iPhones out and taken pics of my freshly cleaned R before - even at places like Santa Pod where its a sausagefest of 911s and GTRs.

Agreed B0rk - nearly all cars go well over a ton nowadays so on a dual carriageway its a case of whos the bigger idiot. The most satisfaction comes from when people dont realise the R is a little rocket and a few clicks of the paddles and you're gone.

OK first real day with the Roc and we were coming a dual carriage way to get home. The road quickly goes from two lanes into one. There were a couple of cars in front, going quite slow, headed by a BMW 325 Coupe. We passed two cars when he must have seen us in his mirrors and went off like a scalded cat. When we didn't follow he slowed down and went through the process again.

I like to make good progress but I'm no boy racer. My wife on the other hand.................... :eyepop:
