Hey, I meant to say, I bought these Bosch blades too.

To be honest, I'd completely forgotten about them, but I think that's only because they've been working perfectly in all sorts of weather - definitely better than the standard fit.

I fitted a set of the AM908s yesterday, just in time for the rain on the M5 today. Have to say they coped very well and left the windscreen smear free.

My theory is that the standard wipers were putting something onto the screen. (Does anyone know for certain what make VW fit anyway?) When I wiped the screen with a damp cloth I could see a sort of greasy dried water pattern. Yesterday I had a set of Bosch wipers delivered. Before fitting them I hit the glass with every product that I had in the garage. First scrubbed with pure rainwater and a washmit to remove the dead bug splats, then meguiars glass cleaner, then vinegar, then halfords glass cutter, then meguiars mild detailing clay, and then finally autoglym glass polish. After all that I fitted the new blades. In the rain earlier today the wipers were perfect. :) Just hope it stays that way

I have fitted on our car the following blades - Valeo VM331 from "wiperblades.co.uk".

They seem to be very good but what I did find was that the tension on the arms was not correct so when our car went in for its first service they increased the tension / pressure that the blade put on the screen. By doing both things we don't have the smear anymore. :hyper:

Hope this helps

Another vote for the Bosch 980S Aerotwin Wiper Blades.

I ordered mine from eBay and am finding them a great improvement over the standard wipers. No smearing and far better visibility in the rain.

Paul: Standard stock fit are Valeos, but I much prefer the Bosch. That's some cleaning regime for your screen!

Lol. It was just a one off to ensure it was totally free of anything when i changed the blades. Now i just use some megs glass cleaner and a dab of autoglym glass polish every now and then. Wipers are still working perfectly. :)

:shake: Just fitted blades look ok but had to trim the large blade about 3 mm because it was leaving a trail of water on
Windscreen , the old blade was about 3mm shorter anyway
Waiting for rain now :shake:
