I get around 49mpg in the current weather on average, recently this has been up to 53mpg as I've been stuck going through sections of roadworks. Most I've had from one tank was 510miles.

Does any one know the MPG for a 1.4 TSI? (Petrol obviously)
The reason I ask is that my courtesy car is getting 27.5 and it just cost me £82 to fill it up and I'm really hoping the Roc wont be so costly!!

with my 170tdi, (only done 4k miles) my actual average (not trip computer) is 46mpg, but as others have mentioned, it certainly gets better when the outside temperature increases, so I'm fairly happy with 46 so far
bring on spring/summer and a bedded-in engine

Just emptied my first tank of fuel and got about 410 miles, not brilliant but not really been on any motorway drives and I have been getting to know the car,so it has been whalloped a bit. Some of the figures here seem very high, can't see me ever gettin the 50.4 quoted, but we will see.

im hitting 275 miles for my £64 at the moment, that just to and from work, driving around town. a-roads and motorways extend it to 325/350. i guess i have a really heavy right foot though...

i mean where's the fun in not taking an citroen saxo with "go fast" mods to the cleaners

I used to get around that out of my Audi S3 2.0TFSI, one of the reasons i got rid was the ever increasing price of fuel.
Just done about 80 miles mixed driving in the Rocco and averaged 45mpg, quite pleased with that.

Hi folks
I've just taken delivery of my R DSG and its a machine but my fuel economy is poor. A 60 quid top up off bp ultimate at 138p pulled me about 225 miles (4 days of driving!). When I'm running about town the consumption can fall to 10-14mpg but a quick push of the throttle makes it all worth it.
Apart from this expense, I have nothing but love for the R. I may have to eat my finger nails for dinner as the end of each month approaches but I don't blame VW, I have only David Cameron....that muppet to thank.
Keep er lit folks....if your waiting on or thinking of an R...... go for it, but make sure its a DSG.

After 3 months with my 2.0 TSI DSG for which I have a detailed costing spreadhseet (I come from the transport industy so its 2nd nature) and measure mpg tank by tank rather than by the Sciroccos computer - the worst I've seen was 28mpg which was the first month I had it and was having fun, the best tank was 33mpg. On any given 'normal' journey of 50% dual carriageway, 50% backroads then it tells me I'm doing 34-35mpg but the spreadsheet average is more accurate, I think the MFD is a tad optmistic.
FYI, I don't drive like a nutter but I don't hold the horses when I want to so the above isn't driving like a monk, just normal driving with the occasional bit of fun on the backroads

The biggest improvement in mpg came when I tried putting the 2Zone temperature on Auto but the AC button off (which you can do in winter, I wouldn't in the summer) and my mpg improved by nearly 10%.

Mullet: Are those mpg figures computer quoted? Not sure what you count as a "full tank" but assuming you took it from full to "0 miles" remaining range, you've used 49 litres (55 litre tank - 6 litre reserve beyond "0 miles) to do 510 miles on your best ever trip (economy wise)
49L = 10.79Gal
10.79Gal to do 510 miles = 47.3mpg
Those VW computers aren't always that accurate if you got an indicated 53mpg for that trip, mine was about 8% optimistic for the first few tanks, it's about 4% out now.
Best I had was an indicated 57mpg (probably more like 51mpg actual) for an 80 mile round trip on an uncluttered dual carriageway, in the summer, doing a constant 80mph. Had I stuck to 70mph, i'm sure i'd have done about 62mpg (indicated).

Mark, I filled up mine for the second time today and got exactly the same result. The pump showed 51,2 liters and the trip said approximately 660 km, that's 410 miles and 11.27 gallons. All urban and subzero conditions, mind. I'm sure this will improve.
I've now gone just shy of 800 Km total and loved every klick of the way! Just received 10 cm (that's 4 inches

..joking) of wet snow this morning, so when the weather permits I'm sure I will appreciate her even more.

I've a regular run of 45 miles in my 2.0 TSI in the evening when there's not much traffic around and using my cruise control on mostly dual carriageway I can get a tad over 50mpg. Mind you, it's a light driving style that's impossible in traffic.

I know what u mean but i can't see me ever swapping for a diesel (altho the Alpina D3 Bi-turbo does interest me)
instead of worring about increasing price of fuel...i just use it as excuse to ask for payrise or to find a better paid job!
