I was looking around at differnt cars before I ordered my Roc. I have driven A3's in the past, not the newer models though, and they are nice cars, but for me the Audi's just seem a little dated now, apart from the A5 and A8, with the signature grille on the front so think it is about time they freshened up the range.

In the end, I didnt even bother test driving an A3 (which is what I would have gone for) and after specing it up on the website I just came to conclusion that it didnt do it for me. The Scirocco really gives me that buzz and I love it.

Good luck on your trade in though mate, and hope the A3 does what you find the Scirocco doesnt.

Yup, seriously good car for the cash. You can pretty much expect a 10% disocunt on an A3 aswell.

Explain a little further. Three of work colleagues have 3-series M Sport cars which have only been in the dealers for services. In fact, I know of not one BMW owner in my circle of friends/colleagues with any problems

Evidence?
Would you like the independent engineers reports or the court cases
1 Series with Turbo Lag (123d M Sport – just google BMW Turbo Lag 123 and you will get it all)
X5 with Turbo Lag

I have to admit I had considered getting an A5 before going for the roc.
Its all about finding what fits what you want at the end of the day. The A3 is a good car but for me it was the amount you see that put me off even considering it (could be seen as popular rather than common), but where I work the car park is practically and audi dealership and every other one of those is an A3.

I hope you make the right decision...

Err.. No. The A3 that will be launched to replace the current A3 model will be available in 3dr and 5dr sportback versions. The Audi TT is Audi's small coupe product. Why on earth would they cannabalise sales of a highly popular product (TT) and at the same time kill off another highly popular product (A3) by replacing it with another coupe???

I am game for a laugh. BOTH please.

No one manufacturer is blame free when it comes to faults. If you think VW are exempt from that... you are sadly mistaken.. and I am actually a VAG fan (owned a Seat, an Audi (which was was shocking) and the Roc).

My dealership loves VWs current reliability. on my 2 previous Golfs and a Polo before that, they had about £12,000 worth of warranty work (retail prices): (2 steering racks, set of rear coils, 2.0TDI 170 PD cylinder head, 2 turbos, 3 tarnished alloys, 1 passenger seat base, 2 warranty remaps (for PD DPF issues), 1 water pump, 4 sets of wipers, 1 rear wiper motor....amongst other things).

Warranty work is almost as profitable as the car! Saying that, the Scirocco has only cost VW 2 sets of wiper blades until now.

Scirocco > A3.....Why? The A3 is tired, should have waited until the new model, or have gone for a MK6 Golf (i'm not a fan of the MK6 though - the MK5 looked much better in the GT/GTI variants). The Golf looks much better outside even if the A3 has a nicer interior.

I just put that model into drive the deal and the discount is nearly £2500! Audi's are lovely but you haven't haggled enough by any means.

He did get £18,500 for a standard Scirocco though, so some of the discount could be hiding in the good trade in price.

A lot of folk have mentioned the new A3 but this has been "coming soon" for about three years now. By the time they actually unveil it at a motor show, put it on sale and we start seeing deliveries you could be 18 months down the line from now.

A3's are some the ugliest hatchbacks to ever hit the road. Great build quality, engines etc but from the outside just plain ugly. Like a rectangle cardboard box your Ikea wardrobe has come in. I don't know why someone would swap from a Roc to an A3 but to each their own. Someone who buys a Roc should plan for things like carrying heavy/large equipment. There are possible 30 A3's for every Roc I see and you dont get envious glances in an A3 too. I drove into central london the other day and at the junction a guy in a bentley was eyeing up my car as if it was a spaceship, it felt great!

Just my opinion! To be fair they are pretty ugly, I don't even think there is a curve on them. They look like they were made just using a ruler and cutting tool. Just plain ugly.

I heard the new A3s will look cool though, but still they're A3s so they won't be cool regardless.

I'm trading my A3 2.0TDi S-line DSG for a Scirocco, and I'm happy going the other way too ..... although I have to confess I haven't driven a Scirocco!

I have driven a GTD and thought it was way better than the A3 in steering response and refinement ....but the Audi has done over £90K now so it may not be a fair comparison

The haggling part is the best part! I had to see my dealer yesterday and he is still saying that he can't believe how much discount i got
