Thank you - I like your interior - I hop my interior is the newer type like yours. I'd say your very happy with it. Had you long to wait?

You promissed some driving impressions and a photo with the start/stop disengaging button. Your consumption so far?
Can you post a picture of the speed and revs needles? I understand they have a black outline from BW45 on, but didn't actually manage to see it clear so far.

Apologies for the delay, have been enjoying driving the car too much
Driving impressions sofar? Really straightforward in stop-start mode to be honest. Pull up to traffic lights, select neutral and disengage the clutch and the engine dies automatically. The silence takes a small bit of getting used to at first, but soon get used to it.
Note that the engine doesn't automatically die if the outside temp is below 5 degrees Celcius, if the engine hasn't yet reached full temp or if you have the Air-Con switched on. Alternatively, you can override the stop-start system with a button down beside the traction control/DCC buttons (in front of the gear lever).
To restart the engine, simply depress the clutch (i.e. before selecting a gear). Engine starts instantaneously; is no slower pulling away from lights in normal traffic than if the engine was running at idle speeds, especially if more than one car back in the queue ('cos have a moment or two as lights change from red to green anf the car(s) in front begin to pull away).
Consumption in first 500 odd miles has averaged about 34mpg overall; a lot of that has been city driving, 2nd & 3rd gear stuff. But, am still running the engine in (trying to keep to under 3,000 rpm for first couple of thousand kilometers or so - not sure if this is absolutely necessary?). Reckon once the engine frees up a little more, overall comsumption figure should improve closer to the 40mpg mark. Haven't yet done a long motorway journey and am very interested to see what I'll average for that (hoping for mid-40's, will see!).
Give me a few days and will take and post pics of the dials/needles etc....

Cheers! Yup, very happy indeed! You will be too.
By comparison to others' stories here, I had a very short wait. Car ordered 7th November, delivered 8th January.
By my reckoning, the Scirocco hasn't been a big seller here in Ireland (mostly as a result of new car sales in Ireland being down 66% last year compared to 2008 due to the dive in the Irish economy), so there was no issue with dealer allocation numbers.
Never asked the dealer what my exact build week was, he just told me that it should be delivered some time in January and I was happy if had the car some time either in January or February to be honest. Life's too short to be rushing such important things?

Hi again, I will have the same Donington 17" alloys as you - Do you a 235/45/17 is a wide tyre?

the 235 in the tyre spec indicates how wide it is Morris.

Over the course of a 190 mile trip yesterday, I averaged 41mpg (6.9 l/100km).
Journey split roughly between 70 motorway miles @ "around"

120km/h (75mph), a few miles of town/city traffic with the rest on the equivalent of UK A-roads at "around"

100km/h (62mph).
Was first opportunity to give the engine a real stretch on motoway and for a couple of overtaking manouvers so, reckon if I cruise a little more, in time, should return closer to 45mpg (6.2 l/100km)
Apologies for the long delay... here's a pic of the speedo & tacho dials, as requested (my car was built after BW45):

"Long Beach", the standard alloy wheel in Ireland is, according to the Product Guide on the VW Ireland website, 7J X 17 (width x diameter) (Tyres:
205/50 R17)
http://www.volkswagen.ie/media/country/ ... tguide.pdf
Note that, on Roccopedia, "Long Beach" is shown as 7 X 17 (width x diameter) (Tyres:
225/45 R17)
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccop ... nformation
In Ireland, "Donnington" alloys are part of the Sport pack which, according to the Product Guide on the VW Ireland website, are
8J X 17 (Tyres: 235/45 R17).
But, on Roccopedia, "Donnington" is shown as
7.5J X 17 (Tyres: 235/45 R17)
Overall, it seems as though Donningtons are wider than the standard wheel offered (which, for the Irish market, is Long Beach).

I just thought a 235 tyre would be tough on a 1.4, my dealer says not - do you find you have extra road noise, a pull on steering with road camber?

still cant really see the point of the 1.4tsi 122ps...
if you want fuel economy, a revo remapped 1.4tsi 160ps will happily give you 35mpg in town and 45+mpg on the motorway.
however the interior is lovely! i especially like the matching stitching everywhere
