1 week to build the car...then you have whole month of Feb to send the car over. And I'm sure the boat trip from Portugal to Blighty does not take 4 weeks.
If they issued build weeks in March...fair enough. But why build a car in Jan if you're not gonna send it to its customer in the weeks after? This is a special low run production...not mass production that can sit in a car park for months on end till someone wants a car in similar spec. Normal Roc's I hear have 6 month waiting lists....so no Roc should be built and left sat at the docks really for any length of time. Should be off the production line and straight onto a boat. Simple business logic that if the product is in demand.
I'm expecting mine in Feb....March at the latest.
If you actually get a confirmed build week in Jan, then of course you will probably see it by March.
If you've not got a build week, then there's no danger than all r orders are going to be fulfilled by march, not a chance.

Negatove, its deof not first come first served, thats why they went through that whole new process off collecting orders. Cars will be allocated by VW, not by who was first in the que. I also don't expect that dealers who are gettign multiple cars will see them close together in the year either.
You're living in a bit of a dream world if you;re expecting it in March.
I know i'm not
How come you 'think' you know so much Mr GTI? Have you actually ordered an R??
I would possibly be living in a dream world about a March delivery if my dealer had told me that 'it might be delivered some time at the start of the new year' but he never. I suppose none of us will (well apart from you since you seem to know more details of R delivery dates than most of us apparnetly) know until we get the green light from VW Germany about build dates. I'll hopefully hear in Jan about that from my dealer.
Oh aye, and another thing. Both my dealer (on many occassions) and VW customer services told me that it was done on a first come, first served basis. I think alot of people on this forum believe or have been told the same. How do you know different?

Just read your comment on 'ALL' R orders being completed by March. Who the hell has said that? It all depends on a)if your order has been confirmed and b) what monthly allocation it has been put into. Do you work for VW??

I thought my order was in the first allocations from my many conversations with VW CS. I got a comms number in november, have had it confirmed i am one of the 250.....but I called them on monday agian, they told me i'd been put into January allocation, and build dates etc wouldnt be confirmed until about the 2nd week in Jan...he also said that he would still expect me to get delivery of it in March. I don't believe anything they tell me anymore, it seems they have got issues behind the scenes on the production of Roc's so I wouldnt hold my breath on march deliveries...on the other hand, who knows, we might all have them 1st week march (no harm in dreaming lol)!!!
With regards to first come first serve, i think that only applys within the dealership, and not overall, as each dealer has a fixed allocation, so he may recevie 10 orders in november, but only 2 may go in the 1st allocation, the remainder in dec, jan etc. Another dealer may only recieve one order in dec which could go into dec allocation, meaning it will be built before some of the orders placed in november at the dealer with 10 orders...does that make sense!!!

Yeah that makes perfect sense. I thought that was how the normal Roc was sold though through that process of dealership allocations but for the R it was to be different because of it being a limited edition initially and only 250?! No matter as long as we're both part of the first 250 and hopefully have shiny new R models waiting for us in March then it will all be worth it....... Famous last words!

Hi Guys, My dealer says I am in Jan allocation. He says VW will make the Roc R in groups depending on major spec. Mine is DSG and with a glass roof which may slow it down. He thinks normal Roc production will be stopped to make all the confirmed orders in a bunch so we may all get them over a reasonably short period.

Its very confusing, and the dealers don't really help much, its often case of me telling my salesman whats going on, him being confused and contacting VW followed by a call to me confirming what I already knew haha!!!!
But like you said BB, we're in the 1st 250 and I think thats good enough for now....
If what Steves saying is correct, then i'm at the back of the queue as i've chosen all opional extras bar 6cd changer and DSG, just kept saying 'go on then' with a big grin as we were going through the list of options!!

Well, considering us with week 2/3 build times I'm guessing we should hear something concrete next week since our cars should be getting built then!
