13 when collected, 315 gentle miles by end of the day (I like to get the running phase out of the way ASAP).

Sorry for delay in replying. Didn't notice your question.

I'm not actually in N. Ireland. I live in Aberdeen but am from NI. My parents still live there, in Limavady. I'm buying from Donnelly VW in Campsie just outside Derry. A friend of mine is a dealer there and is giving me a very good price compared to a few of the dealers I went to over here. I'm getting my old car scrapped as well as a fair bit of discount so it's worth my while driving my old one back on the ferry from Scotland and then taking the Scirocco back.

I'm paying for it next month (at 15% VAT) but waiting until start of January to collect it so i can get it registered as 2010 (new plates issued from 1st Jan in NI).

As it will have been sitting in the garage for almost 2 months before i can drive it, i'm hoping that no one will be out driving it. How many miles did most folk have on their cars when they collected then?
Hey mate,

Please forgive my ignorance but does ite really make much a difference if you pick your car up early? I know you want to wait until you can have a 2010 plate but i thought N.I plates don't show age or is there a way of working it out like JJZ could be 2003 HJZ 2004 ect ect....I like the name too Scirocco "Bhoy"

Just to confuse matters I'm actually carrying over a plate to my new car which is from about 1992. It doesn't have any significant meaning it's just sentimental. But number plates in NI are like you say, the first letter denotes the year and the second 2 letters denote what county its from. Although my car is getting a cherished plate the fact that is is registered as 2010 will make a bit of difference to value when it comes to sell as opposed to 2009.

Glad you like the name, you one of the good guys too?
Shame we're playing pretty poorly this year! hopefully a couple of new players in January will help things a bit
