It looks as if VW Customer Services are giving us all different stories. I have been in contact with them for a week now and i have an email from them that says the following:

"I can confirm that unfortunately your vehicle order has been delayed. The reason for this is apparently due to a shortage of supply of the radio system which you had specified. I have spoken with the sales team who have confirmed that there is no estimate for when this vehicle will be built".

I only asked for the standard radio with the DAB upgrade and I was told the DAB upgrade was not the problem.
When I enquired about an alternative radio VW said:

"I can confirm that all production of vehicles with this radio has been delayed at present. There is currently no alternative radio available otherwise we would have asked for this to be changed to expedite your order. We are currently working closely with the factory in order to find a solution in order to minimise the delay to your vehicle."

When did you place your order and what is your build week? It is possible that RCD510 supply problems (if any) are impacting later orders.

From your info you should be getting your car tomorrow - can you confirm you have got it and it is fitted with RCD510?

I have a suspicion that the issue is still the DSG gearbox on the 170 TDi rather than the radio - know my dealer has at least 3 unconfirmed with that spec. Im meant to be built this week (47) and just went for the standard RCD510. Seems like the dealers dont have any more info to give anyone though.

SPOGSHD has seen his wk47 build170 TDI at his dealers (arrived today) and it has (among other things) RCD510. See his post in http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... f=2&t=3573" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I placed my order on 24th July.

I was 31st July so looks like we are in the same boat on this one.

I ordered my Roc too on 15-Jul - I phone VW Customer Services every fri to get an update - today they told me that I still don't have a confirmed build date due to the RCD510 stereo - but they were in touch with the factory to rectify the situation - waiting patiently for a phone call next week - will let you know what they say !!

We all seem to get different stories - I guess it may be up to the pulling power (turnover records) of individual dealerships. I ordered early Sept (quarantined from Sept 1st's price increase), got comm number within 5 days and have a confirmed build for next Monday, with the RCD510 and other options. But I'm not holding my breath.

I have to agree, I phoned up to confirm that my car wasn't incuring any delays - was told no delays on my vehicle. Ordered 27 October 2009 and Delivered 19 November 2009. Picking it up next week...woohoo...

Ordered 31/8/09 using an August allocation at my dealer, was showing unconfirmed week 50.
Phoned today and i'm now build week 2 unconfirmed!! CS said due to the radio issue!

About 4 weeks for your car You are very, very lucky. How envious am I Ordered mine slightly before you and VW told me the other week to expect it in Feb 2010, but no build date yet.

imo something doesn't add up with the details coming regarding radio problems, or not as the case maybe..

I did see somewhere that it was the DAB version/option of the RCD510 with the shortage, the standard units if fitted were OK.

Are above Standard or ordered the DAB option?

My 170GT has just gone into production and I have DAB specified. In actual fact they are building it a week early.

I've ordered dynaudio......

Just a wild guess but could the week45 changes, and how they interact with the RCD510 be the problem? My week44 build has dynaudio and there appear to be no problems.

Don't think so - my car now in last stage of build (wk48) has RCD510 and dynaudio specced. Hope it will work OK when delivered.

I agree trix - somthing doesn't quite add up. Ive ordered the standard version. DAB uses the same base RCD510 with something added and the other aerial. Can't be the real reason if they are still building.

Just a quick note - the DAB equipped units are not the same as the standard RCD510 . They have a specific DAB button instead of the TIM button on the standard units.As such do not have the TIM function ,hence different units . Hope that helps
