Sounds ludicrous to think that a Ford Puma could be considered as part of a scrappage scheme deal eh Kev?

Does anyone else think that the big manufacturers are trying to claw back the scrappage deal money with these price increases?

Don't forget that VW already had a big price increase in Feb, which wiped out the VAT savings in the UK when VAT was reduced from 17.5% to 15%.

So a 3.5% rise in Feb 09, and another one in Sept 09, and all these economists say that we're in negative inflation???

People are skint or being thrifty through these tough times and VW (and the others, although I think the Japanese marques have held off the price rises more than Ford, Vauxhall etc) encourage you to buy their cars by putting up the price by 7% within 6 months.

You may say that Sterling is crap at the moment, but it's been crap against the Euro for a while now, and has moderately strengthened from Dec 07 until now. Are these car companies taking us for a ride? With there being so many car companies within the VAG group to spread the development costs around of parts, engines and gearboxes in general, shouldn't the cost of these cars be less than they are?

VW seem to be trying to price themselves into Premium car territory lately.

I saved about £2.5k by paying for mine in January.
