My first post on the forum.
Well I ordered mine a month ago and was told by the dealer it would be December before I get my hands on it, looking at some of the posts on here it seems more like Jan, Feb, in which case I mite as well let them keep it till March and have a 10 plate. :cry:
They took my car on a scrapage scheme so on the 31st Nov they will have2 give me a car to run around in. He did say if you wait longer than 16 weeks they will generally give you a car to use, anyone else be told the same.

Just had a chat with the dealer , he said its been froze, so no changes can be made now, he also said it would be here by the end of Nov. He is going to ring me back on Mon to tell me if I have build week. He said I was just in time for the allocation this year, anyone ordering now will wait till Jan, Feb.

I had a nice conversation with vw customer services who say they will give you a car if your order is more than 20 weeks so maybe Spogshd has a nice dealer who will give him one abit sooner (Spogshd, i'm guessing your mot is due at the end of november for you to need another car then?

Oh & Spogshd Welcome!!

Trix, I was told end of Nov and looking at yours you ordered one way before me. The scapage scheme only lasts for 16 weeks and that ends at the end of Nov then I will be without a car, can't see me getting one before you so someones telling me porkys.
There is one sat in the showroom that I could have but its not a 170 its a 140 its got everything I want except the xenon lights.
What sort of deal did you get, I got 2k for my banger and bluetooth, winter pack,front and rear scirocco mats, gap insurance, tracker, full tank all thrown in the deal.

well spogshd i got a good deal (% off + scrappage) & hoping for some freebies to be thrown in as i had to re mot my car that is being scrapped as my new one hasn't arrived soon enough, even though dealer was aware of dates, & i can't be without a car for that long (was not offered a hire car or alternative would just like £60 of freebies/accessories to cover my mot & replacement parts (luckily only needed a windscreen wiper) which i, most likely, would have spent on accessories anyway.

fyi regarding the scrappage deal yes it lasts 16 weeks/4 months but 1. the dealers are being sneeky in getting round longer delivery cars & 2. if you still have a valid mot you can still drive it on the roads even if your car still hasn't arrived

hey spohsgd and trix,

maybe it's slightly off the lead time topic, but you both raise an interesting point.

When you talk about the deals you went for, were these based on financing the car via VW? Based on the 3 dealers I talked to seriously, I was offered a couple of deals, but usually based on a rubbish trade in, or a lowish looking finance "base rate" (whatever the heck that is!) that equated to a shockingly bad APR. I generally found that the cost of the finance was way more than the goodies being offered to sweeten the deal.

Maybe I've been unlucky and none of the dealers I went to were making decent deals :(

In the end I sold my old car privately (got twice the trade-in I was offered) and sorted out finance from my bank at 6% less on the finance APR rate than VW had. But my "deal" was only £1200 off the list price.

What do u reckon, have I been had?

WelshJim - My situation is very similar to you. No trade in, no finance, £1000 discount plus mats and full tank. Dealers were very keen on finance but would have cost me an extra £2500 :eyepop: . Must admit that haggling is not my strong point though! :shrug:

Here is what I got.
Winter pack= £200
Bluetooth= £200
Gap= £380
Tracker=£400
Mats=£85
Full tank=£50
Total=£1315
Then £2000 for my old car, so your not that far off the mark. Suppose the more extras you have the more the dealer has to play with, VW don't give much away. I had to push and walk away from the deal, then they phoned me back, then when I went back I pushed for the tracker to close the deal. It was hard to walk away from the only car I've drooled over. Don't forget the Gov give the dealer 1k towards the scrapage so they only give you 1k which you would probably get for any old car you took in. I reckon you got more or less the same as.

hi All

this will be my first post
I ordered my scirocco on the 11/08/2009, but I still don't have a build week, I have contacted my dealer a few time and they have said it is scheduled for October build, but there is no build week yet? does this seem unusual to anyone else?, or are there others out there with the same issue? :?

Hi Clown, Welcome!

some people have found that their dealer does not tell them the specific build week to save them worrying when it moves around which is does alot initially.
if you speak to them & explain that you realise build weeks move lots but it would put your mind at rest knowing which one it is scheduled in currently then i'm sure they will tell you. sometimes we know the system better than them lol

Hi clown, you ordered a whole 6 days before me, I was told by the dealer estimated build week 46 and delivery mid December. Called in today just to have a close look at there demo again, kind of wish I hadn't done that, made me want it now, now, now. Thing is they have used there allocation up now so can't order any more till Oct for 2010 delivery.
I was also told if it comes in the new year that I would have to pay the extra 2.5% vat :grumpy: , but if you think about it, it would then be a 2010 car and if I'm not mistaken, the glasses guide would make it worth more a little longer, so offset the increase in vat, maybe someone could verify this.
Keep in touch on the board, helps pass the time away :shrug: .

:( :grumpy: :mad: :( :grumpy: :? :cry: :mad: :( :eek: :cry: :cry: :grumpy: :mad: :(

Ordered mine on the 27th of July with an estimated build week of 40 - this week!

Had a call over the weekend to say that it had been postponed indefinately!!! They can't even tell me when I'm likely to get it and warned it could be as late as January!!!! That's over 5 months!

Volkswagen are being cagy with the dealer only saying they were having trouble building enough 170 Diesels - guess what mine is........... [the same problem is effecting the Golf GTD's as well apparently]

The dealer has offered to refund my deposit so I can go elsewhere BUT I WANT MY ROC! Plus, if I wanted another factory order car I'd have another wait to start all over again.

The big problem was that my current car has come to the end of the lease plan and has to go back. However, the dealer has promised to loan me a car for the duration so I guess I'll just have to sit it out. Will be picking that up next week.

Should get the Roc just in time for the snow - nice! [and it's white!]

Have had a couple of discussions with my dealer this week over the '20' week senario [due to my car being delayed, see other post]. It's not all it's cracked up to be!
They seem to be able to make it start when they like. I ordered my car on June 27th, 20 weeks later would be 14th November. According to VW 20 weeks ends at January 9th !!! Having been given a strong coffee and counting to 10 [five times] I asked some more. Was informed that the count down to 20 weeks starts after an 'expected, reasonable, normal delivery time' has expired. Eight weeks by my calculation.

So to sum up, the 20 weeks only starts counting after the eight weeks you would expect to wait anyway........

Does not bother my as my dealer has been kind enough to sort me a car from their own stock as a gesture of goodwill. But it's given me a bl :eyepop: :eyepop: dy headache getting to the bottom of it.

Ring true with anyone else?

Hi

First post for me

Ordered my car on 28th Aug - dealer is saying should get it for new reg March 10 - when do you get a build week as dealer is saying order not placed yet due to them using their allocation so no build date ? - but another dealer has told me no such thing as allocations now as these were scrapped in June. That dealer said he could as many as he likes but there is upto 6 months wait on the 1.4tsi as this engine is in high demand.

Further more he said all cars ordered now would have build week of 49 - this being the last before the factory closes down.

So does 28 weeks sound right ??? - soooo looking forward to getting it but 7 months seems excessive

Thanks All

Welcome Pip

that sounds abit suss to me based on other peoples delivery timescales recently.
i don't think anyone has said anything about allocations being scrapped, just that in june dealer allocations were reduced to roughly 1 per month they couldn't scrap the allocation system (imo) as it was cause chaos with orders & the factory would be overrun which it almost is already with the number of orders hence the allocation restrictions.
yes it is likely that the dealer you have placed your order with has run out of allocations but there are dealers who still have allocations meaning you would not have to wait this long!! you would just have to travel abit further. 7 months is pretty unreasonable to ask you to wait imo, i would shop around for a dealer with an allocation available (see this thread for starters http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... f=2&t=3127)

They untagged mine and tag it again, so got 16 weeks from now, but by the sounds of it I will need another 16 weeks as well :cry: :cry: :cry:
