Net & Central
Re: Net & Central
Thanks Kev for the reply.
The two are never going to meet, so end of i guess, but a shame.
Both are great forums, if you cant find on one, you can probably find on the other!
At the end of the day, we all like the same thing, the Scirocco.
But the net likes it just a little bit more! (joke)

thanks for the welcome deacon, and nope ive no idea yet whats wrongDeacon wrote:Thanks for joining us and posting while net's down.
I joined both at the start and occasionally post on net but found net to be very cliquey so central became my favoured forum and then I was made a mod so obviously this is where my loyalties lie.
Do you know what's wrong with your forum chaps?
Deacon

I suspect we'll stay separate but the offer has always been on the table from my point of view.
You only have to look at the number of golf, TT, Ford forums etc to see that there is clearly a market for more than one. If we did merge I'm not sure we'd get much opposition from other UK based rocco sites. We would probably be too big force and I don't think, even at todays levels, there is a 3rd site in competition dedicated to the MKIII. If ever anyone was going to try and compete, I think the time has passed by. The real competition would come from the MKI and II sites but they seem more dedicated to their old school models.
The two sites have a slightly different atmosphere perhaps and people will migrate to whichever they prefer. As long as, between us, we give as much information, help and enthusiasm as we can then everyone's a winner.

Regarding the situation with two forums; We all have our favourite pubs and clubs when we go out and we frequent some more than others. That doesn't mean that we should feel un-comfortable when we go for a pint in a boozer that we don't visit every weekend does it?
Cheers ED! Spot on.

Re: Net & Central
I enjoy both sites a lot, i rather the logo and the posibility of central stickers thefore have got those but i thin the content is slightly easier to find on net. In all honesty though btw this is not a dig, i think they are both not the greatest sites to navigate, for the past couple of years i have been on http://www.ukcorsa-d.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is a better site in terms of layout but they have a lot more help and many staff alterating it and keeping it up to date. TBH i dont know that much about building a site so i don't know how hard it would be to make it better for instance there are many sub forums like modifications:
interior
exterior
mechanical
wheels suspension brakes
ICE lighting electrics
which i found much easier to find what you are after
this is not a dig at either site mearly a way i think we could improve it

My car is now for sale, for just £16,000, fair price so please no silly offers

About 3-4 months later Net started up. I think we had about 150 members and about 2000 posts at that point.
We've both been doing pretty well. Just to let you know there's no animosity between the sites, me and Tony do chat from time to time............
Thanks for the reply....

We have discussed a merger in the past. It's a slightly complicated process involving a lot of database work but it is worth trying if we ever agree to it.
There are pros and cons.
We would have a bigger force of people and knowledge and 'clout' when it comes to organising things, getting discounts or arranging sponsorship etc.
The downside is that it's a complicated thing to do and one or both sites would have to shut to either let one name take over or you create a brand new one with new merchandise and identity etc.
As both are pretty big now we may have passed that point at which it was doable but you could always just create a brand new site anyway and everyone re-registers and starts a fresh. It would only 2-3 weeks to build up the content again as there's a certain amount of repetition on both sites with people asking the same things as they join the 'club'. For instance, how many times have we seen the ipod cable question
if you started again and formed a super forum, you would be quite a force!
i think you'd find it much easier to get sponsors as at the moment i imagine any potential sponsors are concered about going to one or the other of the two scirocco forums...
if there was just one place then it would be considered to be THE place to go for mk3 scirocco information.
i agree that is is a right pain in the bum having to double post...
it would be nice to collate all the members of the two forums and have one big community instead of the two separate and slightly divided communities...
i think its definatley worth a poll to see what everyone thinks right?
