I'm glad I didn't get a 1.4 when I was searching for a rocco.

Is the 2.0 TSI (2009) more robust?
Yes it generally is more robust than the 1.4 twincharger but can suffer 2 issues, one of them serious. It is a must that the chain tensioner is updated to the newer version.
The other issue, less serious is the water pump leaking - again the latest revision solves this problem.

With the chain tensioner there is a way to check what version you have: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you are going to do this check, be sure to buy a new replacement plug rather than using the old one - otherwise you may get oil leaks.
If the chain tensioner fails its similar to a timing belt failing? (lots of dmg)

Unfortunately, yes - it will most likely cause bent valves.

Now this is not to say yours is definitely going to fail if it is the older revision, but it is something to be aware of and there are plenty of cases of failure out there.

It is worth looking into - more information here on how it fails: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
