Cars all look stunning, I'm almost jealous I didn't get the blue! Thanks for the tip with the stickers, I did do a quick Google before but I didn't really know what I was looking for.
I'll start a build thread if my own and post a couple of pics, you can then see how shit mine looks without cluttering up your thread.

>moto< wrote:It does seem to go against convention. The turbo usually sits straight after the exhaust manifold (which I don't think you have changed) so should spool up at least the same as before. The difference is that with a larger downpipe, sports cat and an exhaust, you have less back pressure opposing the turbo....meaning that, if anything, it should be a able to spool up faster.
I think it actually has to do with the exhaust gas velocity being lower due to a larger diameter downpipe. Hence why the turbo doesn't spool up quite as quickly and/or build boost for another 100-200rpm.
Anyway car is going on the dyno in the morning so hopefully we have some more answers with the stage 1/stage 2 comparison.

I have to be honest, I'm not sure how the R is plumbed up turbo wise, so that may be the case. All of the turbo cars I've had before are fed exhaust gas from the manifold and discharge into the downpipe. With this set-up a bigger downpipe helps, lower pressure/velocity is a good thing as long as it's on the discharge side of the turbo. If VW have some funky plumbing going on then I could be totally wrong.
I'll look forward to seeing the dyno results, I hope you get some good numbers!

Very nice car and I like what you did with the front plate!

Thanks. Front plate mount was a cheap/quick mod but it does look way better. There's a range of plate options we get here in South Australia but Euro style has an annual fee whereas the ones I'm running are once off so work out a lot cheaper in the long run. Plus the colour goes with the car

How did you go on the dyno tigger?

I did run the car on the dyno the other week, however the results I got weren't quite what I'd expected. Power-wise it did make a little more, however for a number of reasons I only ran the car with the valves open in the exhaust while the car was on the dyno. Day to day I have the valved exhaust shut so it's quiet for driving around town.
Unfortunately the tune was still adapting to the open exhaust and the numbers reflected that. I picked up 20kW from the first run to last and still think there was a bit more just in ECU relearning. We also suspect that the last tank of fuel (which was purchased at a small regional service station) may have also been a little off in terms of octane.
I'm tossing up whether to chuck it back on there after having run a couple of tanks of fuel through and go for a bit of a hills run before to make sure it's fully adapted also. It'll depend whether I get around to it before I look to make the next changes...

Ran the car on the dyno today - 222kwaw.
Here's the comparison between stage 1 and stage 2:

Exhaust I picked up on special but normally for the full valved system plus wi-fi switch unit it's AUD$4.5k.

Bold-Sport order just placed....
On the way are:
- Chrome Window Switches
- Door Warning Lights
- Spare Door Panel Clips
- Ignition Key Bezel
- Tire Valve Caps
- LED Interior Lighting Kit
I'm going to see if I can source a mirror switch with a chrome trim which was available here on some MY17 models but if all else fails I may have to pay the extra and get it from VW spare parts.

You will love the superpro's!
When you will do the alignment, you could also align the subframe
