Crikey - that's quite something! At the other end of the scale: 330 (plus) miles to the tank, high 30s average, with a max so far of 42.5mpg in my R.

Drove my R to Cornwall and back over the weekend - got 30.5 overall (we were stuck in roadworks on the A30 for 40 odd minutes on the way down there, though, we were at 32.9 before that.

In the end I got a GT TDI as couldn't justify the cost of running a petrol.
I simply love it - brings back so many memories from when I had a Corrado
I've left an intro in the newbies section at

Thanks for your help and advice

Not used 1/4 of a tank yet, happy days, and just £30 RFL

My 2010 GTI TdI with a safe 1 cam get 480 on a full tank easily
It's the DSG and I love the sports mode.
If you are doing plenty of motorway mike's the dfp shouldn't be an issue.

I have a 2009 2.0 TSI GT DSG and around town usually get 25-30mpg depending on how i am driving, on the motorway i can get up to 40mpg
For a 2.0 petrol i think its pretty good on fuel!
Would 100% recommend the 2.0 TSI

I got that over the last half tank, mix of town driving, motorway/dual carriage.
Car does need a service, which is clearly reflected by 150 miles from the last half tank lol.
Average though, I'd say around 450-500 miles on a tank (mixed driving)
Long motorway journey, sat at 75mph, 600+ miles from a tank.

I've got a 2009 2.0TSi
I get 24/25mpg on my 24mile daily commute, about 1/3 are B roads but the rest is stop start city traffic.
Did a run to from Leicester to Leeds and back not too long ago and averaged 38mpg but that was traveling at ... well lets just say slightly quicker that the flow of traffic.
Best I've had is a run to Norfolk from Leicester averaging 50-60mph and got 43mpg ish
Worst I've had was a tank at 18mpg.
This is all from dash cluster readings.

Just done 533 miles to the Lake District and back
Got 39mpg calculated by fuel usage not the mfd (mine does seem accurate though)
As usual using shell nitro plus unleaded
