Yeah I would agree. £3000 would be nice in the pocket, but realistically, if you bought the car on its N0x values then your someone id rather not meet! I had my car serviced at VW the other week and declined the update, signed a piece of paper (and put a DO NOT UPDATE sign on the OBD port to be safe!) and that was it. The car is out of warranty, runs perfectly and id rather not take a potential risk, as many people say, if its not broke dont fix it.

Hi.
In Portugal only now they are sending the letters for this recall. This means that no info is available regarding the effects in Scirocco.
Nevertheless we have some problems already reported in 1.6 Tdi cars, mainly related to injectors.
At this country we have no alternative other than do this service action. At the end of this year they will check the system and cancel the car license plate from those that didn't went there.
I am really concerned of this change because VW for sure "solve there problem" postponing the impact for the future. If the update causes direct impact in fuel consumption or performance, they will have thousands of clients claiming for that. If the impact is only visible after 2 or 3 years, no one will be able to say that was a consequence of this change. They are smart indeed.
At this moment I am trying to find the real impact in DPF lifetime and also engine longevity (since more regeneration means more fuel mixed with oil and a worst lubrication).
Is it possible with a future repro to change again this scenario?

Not quite sure what you're asking here but if you mean if you get the VW 'fix' can you remap it out then yes you can. Should in theory be as simple as just getting a remap from your trusted remap company (Revo etc) to remove VWs fix. The remap will remove completely the VW fix or we will have parameters that the remap company will benot able to change (for instance pre or after injection)?
It is clearly visible that this change will increase the number of DPF regenerations and the engine vibrations. All those consequences can be solved with a remap?
