Shell V-Power ONLY! I agree with the above, I wouldn't buy an R and not give it the right fuel.

Shell V Power Nitro+ always mate unless you can't get to a Shell garage then highest available grade.

Makes me laugh when R owners talk about economy and fuel prices hehe.

I've been enjoying superb performance with BP ultimate at the moment.

few pennies cheaper than V power, but I can tell no difference in their performance. Both seem noticeably better than standard fuel.

Some would argue that the real problem with carbon emissions is methane gas, not oil

Yes but knock sensors are reactive and therefore react to the symptoms of knocking i.e. they're only able to retard the timing once symptoms have been detected. And knock symptoms will only be present once lower grade fuel has already been injected into the cylinder and burned. Until that time, there's no way of the knock sensor sensing the lower grade fuel and proactively altering the timing to compensate.

I do accept however that the chance of damage occurring between the first instance of lower grade fuel being injected and the timing being altered to compensate (as a result of knock symptoms triggering a reaction by the sensors) is low. Given the choice though, I'd much rather prevent it altogether.

Very surprised someone would buy a brand new Rocco R and contemplate fuel.

It's a no brainier really.
