Dunno mate, gave them the deposit over the phone today, they said the car is built in Germany and put on the next truck over, approx 2 weeks.

I was pretty unfussed about spec so i'm getting a red 5 door with 18" monzas and a winter pack. That'll do for me, don't really like leather, not fussed about the DSG, it's been nice in the 'Roc but I wouldn't pay the price of it on the golf. The Golfs got plenty of kit as standard foe me.

Even though your change of car is enforced I.E 5 into 4 don't go !!
I wouldn't be too upset swopping for a new Gti either.

Cheers Silver, baby's not due until September but it's always nice to get a new car when the sun is shining. Should look just like this one.....

In regards to the Golf, Agree on practicality of course, but as for the looks, well matter of taste I guess, and as you said, the world would be a dull place if we all had the same taste in everything, but to me the GTI just looks like a 5 door Golf even if it does have a few extra spoilers and nicer wheels.
I love the interior and think if feels very up market, but the looks haven’t yet grown on me at all (still getting my head round the rear lights that looks like a smaller versions of the Touareg) but I guess it's a matter of time.

You still cannot argue that the Roc looks far more special then the Golf, which at the end of the day is a ...Golf!

19k isn't bad considering, I wonder what I would get for mine with less than 3k on the clock and all the extras (Sat-Nav included) although having paid top dollar for mine (£27) I would not do as well as you, that's for sure...

I bought my car as a demonstrator with 800 miles on the clock last November when dealers were begging for business. My spec was about £25.5K and I got it for £21K. It was a rare 08 plate so probably one of the very first registered cars and the cheapest in the UK by some way. The car had already suffered massive depreciation (4.5K in 800 miles/3 months!) so i've just been lucky I guess.

I agree 100% that the Roc looks more 'special' and unique than the Golf but I wouldn't agree it looks just like any old Golf. You'll be envious of the perfect wheel arch/tyre gap on the GTI that they got so wrong on the Roc. However both great cars and i've already said the Roc feels way faster, very 'go kartish' in comparison. I do drive my Roc quick, i've been more concious of getting nicked in the Roc than any other car i've owned so in a way i'm looking forward to more 'sensible driving'

Interesting test of GTI vs Roc in Evo this month, bottom line is that the GTI is the better car but the rocco feels faster and more fun

I'll check it out, picked up the GTI yesterday and drove it to Inters today, very nice car.
