Possibly but more likely I'm just a better driver...:-)

new on here but I had a citroen ehdi that used to regen a lot and most of the time it was the fuel that had the most difference, on Tesco fuel it would happen 3-4 times a week, on bp ultimate I had 3.. in one day, but on shell v-power diesel I was getting 1-2 regens a week.. my daily commute is around 8 mile to work but I do a lot of running about (Mrs cant drive).. since I got my scirocco ive put nothing but v-power in and it does seem to help, I get 1-2 a week

I'm going to try use some different fuel and see what's what. I did actually used to use Shell and thinking back I never really had many regens back then. I did use Morrisons fuel for a while and I had so much smoke it was unbelievable so I stopped using that. So maybe I need to play a little roulette with different fuels to find the best one for the car..

Obviously I should just RTFM, but after driving my 2.0L TDI for five years and 60k miles I've never noticed a light regarding DPF regeneration?! Have I lost my marbles? I have noted the fans running after parking up a few times.

The warning light only comes on when regeneration is not succesfull in a couple attempts or soot load to high to regenerate normally.

I have the 2.0 bluemotion tech tdi 140bhp, I get approx 600 miles plus from a full tank, going to work 60mph most the way 40 mins there and back each day, averaging 62mpg, if driving in town drops to around 48mpg though, overall averaging approx 58mpg and I thought my economy was pretty average, its not been remapped either (that I know off) was looking to get it done
hope you get it sorted mate, I know how much it niggles at ya everytime you get in the car.

I'm going to refill the car fully tomorrow using shell v power and see what's what. I have onto got 380 miles from this full tank but I have looked on a previous post in a different thread and have seen that I wrote I got 480 before. Maybe this was when I used shell fuel before. [emoji17]

maybe get a few additives to add to the fuel I believe Halfords do a dpf cleaner for 9.99 you may even have a blockage or possible airleak somewhere meaning the fuel isn't burning quite aswell as it should, thus leaving all the left over crap its not burnt on the dpf filter, hence it keeps going into the cycle. I'm no mechanic but maybe worth checking the airtubes, filters etc

I've been using shell v power since last Friday and it seems to be a lot better got just under 200 miles so far in that little amount of fuel. The revs haven't been raised at 1000 all week but have just started to again. Mpg is up from around 38 to 49 combined now. Should I get my battery checked to see if the weak?! I walked around the car when I parked and could hear the exhaust pushing out air at a fast rate and it was making a gushing of air noise. Also very very hot air.

Hey guys, bringing up an old thread again.
My car doesn't go into regen so much as before, but sill does it 1 or 2 times a week. I drive the car in the motorway everyday and drive it hard when the DPF regen occurs. Is there any specific way I should be driving to keep regens to a minimum. I try drive between 2/3000 rpm to clear the filter. But it always still seems to happen! And I feel the cat becomes a little laggy when it's doing it and can obviously see the smoke when this occurs (only on acceleration in 2nd and 3rd)
What else can I really do? 30 miles a day driving on motorways shriek clear it all the time shouldn't it?

Hook it up to vcds and get some data. Now your only guessing whats going on.
Check the soot level and ash volume. Maybe your dpf is on its end.

Would anyone be kind enough to be able to do this in Leeds/Bradford for me?
