Had mine replaced couldnt notice any problems when i had the fault but after it was replaced my mpg went up by about 8!!

You could leave it but from what i understand if your flaps got stuck closed you wpnt have full volume of the manifold and power will drop.

Also just because the techs cant replicate the issue doesnt mean its not there could be an intermitent fault.

Price sounds steep though i paid around €460

Sorry to revive this thread. had my car 3 years, no issues. I applied a superchips (bluefin) stage 1 today and it pops up with all sorts of errors on the intake manifold:

A bit worrying I think.. After I applied the remap, I started the engine and it felt a bit rough for about 30 secs, and then it settled down. I assume the engine was getting to grips with the new setting.. No EML for me, I will drive through the week and see if this issue is still there...

Have you all got yours replaced by an indie?

Got mine replaced by an Indie - did not want to pay VW labour rates!! so saved £150 but paid full price for the part. Can get the part cheaper from the USA if you are prepared to wait for delivery.

Save and erase the fault codes in the engine module. Great chance there isn't a real problem but it shows up because of the remap. If there is a real problem it will return.

Thanks for the advice salsajoe. How much did it cost in total? I know a few indies to call - I'd rather get it sorted soon, just cos I am concerned that it says "flap stuck open"

@roy - I did erase them, and they have returned today :(((, exactly the same ones.. I have other errors now, but I will post them in another thread.
Oh, and my Engine Check light is also on now :(

Did you erase them in the engine module itself? You cant erase them with a full scan and clear dtc's.
I would return to the tuner and let them fix it, very obvious that this all happens 1 day after tuning.
Did they deliver it without fault codes?

Yeah, I went into the engine module to delete the codes - and tonight when I scanned, it reappeared.

It was a superchips/bluefin remap. So I just followed the instructions on their handset - I might send them an email and see what they say. I doubt the manifold will go back to normal if I take off the map

EDIT: I have sent superchips an email, no response yet. I have had a quote from one indie to replace the manifold, he is quoting about £570  :fall:

Update: part arrived yesterday from europaparts, not opened it, but I'm sure all is intact. It cost £173. I ordered it on Tuesday afternoon, and it arrived Thursday morning from America (not a long wait at all).
Got an indie I can trust who can fit it for 80£+vat. So I think I've got away with a good saving. Thanks for all your help guys.
I was told the car is safe to drive, and the problem would have been if the valve was stuck closed (and not open).

I'll update again once the part has been fitted
