Douggie1233 wrote:Nice thread mate! No holds barred on this project!! haha... Is the facelift R rear bumper, boot and lights a straight fit do you know?
I have no idea haha :D I have checked part numbers and believe it should fit on but I will find out once the rear is painted. Hoping to have it painted by the weekend as I need to do a test fit atleast so I have time to replace parts before the 6th june as that is when my exhaust is being made.

I know the rear light plugs are different so that is my first hurdle, trying to find plugs! Will hit the scrapyard saturday morning and see if they have any modern VW's that use the light plugs.
Haha, fair enough.. I'll keep following to see how the fitment goes then! will be looking to also fit the facelift rear as it adds a lot more character.
It certainly does but its not cheap lol :(

Got the wiring plugs and some loom from TPS today for my rear lights, so I have the fun of working those out at the weekend!

Yes I run parallels for windows on mac. You can also try VMware or dual boot but I orefer parallels. I downloaded the firmware off my-gti and the map file off piratebay.

So I forgot this was coming lol, got my brand new white highline cluster today, I am fitting it sunday with help from a gay who knows abit more about VAG coding, we are changing the needles to genuine R blue and blue SMD's too.

And tonight I am collecting 2 more exciting goodies :D Will post pics later! Also the bodyshop phoned, my rear end and skirts are done and drying ready for collection tomorrow. Had to pay extra to get him to do them for the weekend as it was very short notice but it means I can get my front/skirts/rear all on this weekend :D

Mission complete! The reason? My scirocco R bumper only had 1 DRL, a guy had genuine DRL's on ebay with the kafatuc harness adapter for £120 so I bought them, and the other item was a Scirocco R steering wheel with gloss black bits for £300!

So first off I ended up here picking up the steering wheel:

Then from there I ended up in North London:

5 and a half hours later, 245 miles later I am home!:

And all for:

More goodies to fit this weekend! Going to be BUSY

Where exactly did you buy the steering wheel from? Ebay?

I need to replace mine, and £300 is a decent price.

So what a day of modding! Got more then I thought I would get done done.

So after picking up my rear bumper and skirts from the bodyshop this morning I fitted my missing DRL to the front bumper:

Then I went on to fit the bumper:

And the finished piece below! The lights are not bolted in as I still need to sort out getting the DRL's working :(

Image

Then it was on to getting the rear facelift lights working, MASSIVE thanks to Niqlai on this forum for help with the wiring, this would of taken me hours without his pictures:

All lights working as they should :)

Then it was on to fitting the rear end.

This went really well but I did not know the bumper brackets behind the bumper were different and I did not have them :( So cant actually fit the bumper properly until tue/wed when I can get the part. So that is why the corners are hanging, but you get the idea :)

If anyone wondered the shape difference between facelift and pre facelift see the below picture. Way off!

But back to the rear end fitting:

Absolutely LOVE the LED rear lights! Will get better pictures when its dark, so happy with them!!

For anyone wondering, every boot trime fitted from the pre facelift boot into the facelift:

And finally, I fitted my steering wheel:

Need to convert the rest of the interior to gloss black now so the trims dont look out of place!

Very long day, but very happy! Tomorrow I am doing my sideskirts with help from a mate. And then I am going to try work out the damn DRL wiring!!

Hope you like

Looks good mate. Steering wheel makes a massive difference. You planning on doing the interior in piano black?

Not a fan of the R badges, on a non-R though!

I was waiting for someone to say that, but I am converting everything to R, not just sticking on a bumper and being done. So the only thing that wont be R is the logbook. And yes I will be upgrading the turbo etc, just doing exterior, interior, engine. But I understand what you are saying.

However yes, will be doing vents, trims etc piano black, got them on order.

Also changing the gearstick, got 1 on order but not arrived yet :(
