yes.. I think it might look like this on petrol models, 14 tsi 125ps, 2ltr GT 180ps, 2ltr GTS 220ps or more? and the R, it looks like their just fitting the GTS into the range and making it more attractive than the GT. im very happy with the 180 ill be getting because for me its about the aesthetics of the whole car and leave the licence loosing engines to the youngsters

Yes - in real world driving, I am sure there wont be a whole lot in the 180PS v 220PS cars. I have not seen any torque figures for these engines, but I would expect driveability to be similar.

the torque is advertised as TBA! which is another odd one... the 180ps has a top speed of 153mph (where the law permits) and 0-60 is 6.5 so your right not a lot of difference in real world driving... and its plenty for me!

I stick with my previous post in that VW will likely offer the 230 bhp 2.0 litre engine when they launch the 2016 model (remember the 180 bhp engine replaced the 160 bhp 1.4 litre engine). If they hold current price levels, the Scirocco will be good value with the 230 bhp engine and modern infotainment system (badly needed).

I think the 6.5 seconds is a typo on the VW website.
If you download the May 2015 price list, it has it shown as 7.4 seconds. All the torque info is in there too.

Sorry, I meant the Brochure, which strangely is still on December issue. Not been updated.

That's brilliant and thank you... Wasn't the old twin charged 14 tsi 7.4 as well ?

If it's the same as the 160 engine in my Golf GT, then it's 7.7 seconds.
According to Parkers here it is:

If VW do only offer the 180 bhp engine in the GT and R line, I would see that as a backwards step. There is nothing wrong with the 180 bhp engine but if you are used to 210 bhp, I would prefer to have more bhp not less. Somewhere I saw some suggested pricing in the UK for the GTS which seemed quite high and then you start clashing with the R model. I just hope the VW UK marketing people know what they are doing!

yes I totally agree, it will be a backwards step considering the competition out there... the scirocco will end up bottom of the pile! VW can and do make great cars so why go backwards ????

From the latest VW price list, it looks as if the only 2 litre TSI engine that will be available will be 180 bhp. I think this is a pity and I would be concerned about the loss of torque as much as the loss of bhp over the 220 bhp version.
Also there is now a big power gap between this and the R model (I think the Scirocco R is anyway overpriced) and there does not appear to be a plan to sell the GTS model (220 bhp) in the UK.
