What do you think I'm looking at?

Depending on if the buyer is trader or a proper private buyer then between 7k and 10k, fundamentally you're selling a 6 year old car. The old mk5 style interior and dash will be an issue for private buyers when for a little more they can get the more modern interior.

But, mine has a host of extra's, well looked after, and in much better condition than others out there. And most are going for around 10-12k (mileage dependent) . either way, I want minimum 11.5k for it. It has warranty too!

Think you would be extremely lucky to get £11.5K on a 58 plate. What mileage is on it? I was offered £12K for my 09 plate last year (with 16K on the clock).

Realistically I don't think you will be able to break the £10K barrier, much that I would like to say you could.

Skippy, did your have the same spec? mileage just hit 60k. i've been offered 9.5k as trade...think you sold yours too cheap, or there was something different about it.

Don't think he sold it mate it was just the price he got offered.
personally I have to agree I think you are being a bit optimistic with what you think it's worth. 6 years old with 60k. But I wish you best of luck selling it and hope you get your asking price.

Yes - that's right chaps, I just got a valuation as a possible PX on a Golf GTI, but I have to say, even I was disappointed with £12K and only 16K miles.

I think values are holding up quite well, and I don't expect the facelift version to effect residuals too much, although the dealers will always use that excuse to give you the minimum PX.

58 and 09 plates will probably struggle to make £10k now.

dealer gave me 10.6k for my black manual 2.0 gt last month, px for the r. parking sensors, leather, 38k on the clock, early 09, still under warranty...

Thanks Easyrider, yeah defo re-visiting this lol

I was offered 9.5k (Trade Price) hence why i think 1k (ish) more on top for private sale should be fair. I usually always sell a car under market value to help out the new buyer, but this is too nice for that :)

I looked at a Parkers guide today on values and yes, £9.5K is about correct for a 58 plate. IIRC it was something like £8.5K for an 08 plate (yes - there are a few 08 plates out there), to about £10.5K for an 09. These are PX values so you would expect probably £1K on top of that on a private sale.
