It's high mileage for its age, but it's still a low mileage car. So depending on the kind of mileage you do it could still be a good deal.

I, for example, only do about 3-4k miles per year... so if I kept that car for 3 years (so, until the car was 3.5 years old) then by the time I sold it it would only have 17-20k on it, making it a low mileage car for it's age.

The same car can be a good deal for one person but not another person, so it really depends on the annual mileage you do and whether it allows the car to become an average/low mile car at the time you sell it.

Did wonder why it said 5 miles on the Parkers site but 'Enquire' on the dealers site.

If something looks too good to be true, then....

But, agree with Sincs.

problems you face is R is now discontinued and not the biggest seller, maybe a VW fleet car, I know BMW staff get 9k or 1 year option on theirs

residuals on a nearly new are going to dive based on the price of the MK7 Golf R which is about £2.5k in real terms than the car it replaced but if you are in for the long term game of 3-4 years the R will have a following hopefully like the niche GTIs

Quite, currently there are decent number of used examples available of varying ages so no really scarcity. I counted 32 on autrotrader considering the original purchase profile the number will I suspect increase over the next few months as all the 2011 registrations reach 3 yrs old. Now is not really a good time to be selling up or px'ing. Don't get me wrong the offers I've had on mine as PX are about what I expected but the car doesn't look to over-performed residual wise in comparison to my previous ed30. It maybe the type of vehicle that holds strong through years 4 to 6 tbh.

The relative lack of 12 and 13 regs will I think keep used values fairly strong over the long term, 3 to 6 month examples will I agree take hit today against new golf R's particularly considering the level of standard kit present and discounts available. I wouldn't be surprised to see '12 drop down to 20k by the end of year, then stay fairly static.
