I use Prestone, Costco has it on special offer just now under £5 for 5 litres and you dilute it.
Never had any problems used it on a multitude of vehicles over the years.

No - I am saying the car gets serviced and handed back with a full reservoir and a full top up bottle. By the time of the next service, some eight or nine months later I find I still have the top up bottle untouched and the cycle repeats itself hence the growing collection of unopened bottles under my sink!
In reality I am using about four litres between services I suspect.

Mine arrived today - just in time as I was virtually down to zero in my reservoir.

I was going to order a bottle or two but I then decided to change my service plan from every two year/20,000 miles to once a year/every 10,000 miles, I done this because I didn't like the Idea of the car doing 20,000 miles with the same oil in the engine, it can't be good for the engine IMO.. Anyway what I was getting at was, I will end up with a full reservoir + what ever is left in the bottle and vw will also give you a brand new bottle as Mark V say's, so IMO it's pointless wasting money buying it when you can get it thrown in with your service. can't fault the customer service Vw provide
Thanks to Mark V for the post above great info

So its not just me then. Don't know how big the washer reservoir is but I've never had top it up from one year to the next over 3 and half years and I'm also stockpiling a supply of VW screenwash.

My Washer fluid reservoir is around 5.5 litres. Not sure if car without headlight washers has a smaller one like the old days.

Thanks, only 23,000 miles, but I think we'd better get back to bottle of s/w or I'll be up on the carpet tomorrow morning

It seems as though you're lucky with that dealer service - since my car was serviced only a couple of weeks ago and my reservoir ran empty yesterday - so they obviously didn't refill, and I certainly don't receive a top up bottle... :/
