mats, cruise and smokers pack were retrofits for me.

Just cruise control and mats for me. Although, on advice of some topics here, I've gone for the option of dealer fitted cruise control as it works out cheaper.

I originally went out to buy a Golf GT, but they said with the options I wanted it would be a factory build, 3-4 months. I didn't want to wait (plus the extra 2.5% tax kicks in in January and my car would be dropping in price) so they mentioned the Scirocco. Of course they couldn't get any of those either, but then they phoned me up to say a guy at another garage had pulled out of the last minute, they would give me until the following morning to make my mind up whether I wanted it or not! So we decided we'd have it as it was. Came with leather seats, (which if I'm honest I would not have bothered with, especially the heated seats), reversing sensors, and that's about it. The thing I do miss is the electric folding mirrors, I have had it on the last two cars. We live in a very rural area and I often find myself down country lanes squeezing past tractors etc. Cruise control, had it on the last two cars, but as I don't do a lot of motorway driving, I hardly ever used it, so doubt if I'll bother having it fitted. The garage messed me around a bit, and now they are trying to put things right, so threw in the mats, and will lend me a car for a few days whilst I get my bonnet reprayed!

The Interlargos were a must have for me, as they aren't standard on the 1.4 tsi. Fog lights and mats were negotiated

I have learnt over the years that unnecessary options are only useful for the next owner ie you are paying all the extra now for someone to appreciate in 3 years.
You will only get back a small, infact very small percentage of the cost.
Yes any car does become a little more desirable with certain extras but it wont make a big difference when you come to sell it in 3 years or so.
Anybody that tells me different like "I will be keeping the car a long time" is only kidding themselves as something new will be out then.
Take Sat Nav- they are only just fitting 3d to factory fit units. Navigon have had that for years and are now using virtual images.
So as technology 'advances' things become redundant a lot faster than before- like phones -this is starting to happen with cars -
People now believe they need the latest gear.So this has a knock on effect on second hand values-hence why I won't overspec a basic model.
The cost between a GT and a base Scirocco meant that you were just getting a better deal than if you specced up a base model to a GT.

Certainly agree as regards extras which are not integral to the performance, safety and comfort of the car (agree with you re. Sat Nav). In time some extras become regarded as fixtures, so when you come to sell, some buyers may be put off by not seeing extras which have become essential parts of the 'Roc image and experience.

I wouldn't mind hearing peoples thoughts on the dynaudio upgrade?
Its the standard setup good?
and has anyone heard a comparison and say the difference was noticeable?

Having already spent alot on my in house amplifier and speakers I've become quite picky when it comes to audio.

Hi, I'm on my second Roc TSi GT. My fist was silver which was the dealers launch car. I wanted a white one so bought the silver one while the white was being manufactured. My white one was supposed to be ready in 8 weeks but took over five months to arrive due to problems with the supply of the sunroof. The dealer was not happy as I had a guaranteed buy back price on the silver one. I got Dynaudio on the second one and it is really good. I have asked for same on my R if I ever get it.

I opted for leather but then changed my mind, 40 quid a month didnt seem worth it and i would never get that money back,reverse park sensors yes (for the missus) smoking pack yes as its handy to have the socket, folding mirrors a must for where i live and flat tyre indicator for the price is nothing really, i hear they will be standard on all new cars soon. Anyway the sensors mirrors and met paint were all thrown in with the price.

Parking sensors absolute must the rear visability aint great with the rocco having such wide pillars

nonsense you can see plenty out the back and the wide mirrors are also helpfull. My Sister has them in her GT, I find them annoying and distracting ! + they spoil the lines of the bumpers.

does anyone have any views on parking sensors and whether or not they are worth having and how good they are? I have already ordered mine but am debating adding them on if I can. But at £355 it seems a bit on the pricey side. what are peoples thoughts?

Think most responses will be yes and a few no. Visibility is poor in the Roc so in that respect are a good investment. Some people don't like the physical appearance on the bumper but I don't think its bad at all. My recommendation would be get them but then again I have not got my orc yet or used them.
