" Cruise Control " is the one thing that we had wished we had got.

Why is everyone mentioning cruise control?

My understanding is that its a relatively cheap and easy retrofit?

Im sure my dealer does it for £220.

It was always a dealer fit (as well as factory) option on the Golf - in fact on the MkV Golf it was considerably chepaer than a factory option! You just had to be happy with the dealer removing the steering wheel on your brand new car...

Cruise control was a cheapish easy retrofit on 2009-10 cars but they have changed the stalk on newer ones and the kits arent available from VW at this moment but probably will be soon.

Don't hold your breath on that as they've been saying that since early 2010. Cruise is best ordered as an option, even if you are only thinking you may want it. Cos it be a regret afterwards because of the more difficult installation and cost.

It was available briefly in April but the stock of kits ran out,as you say still better to factory order it though because when it was available it was about. £450 cos most need the steering column ecu changing.

I spec'd mine with everything I wanted from the factory, almost... However the salesman told me that they came with Bluetooth, which annoys me that I believed him as they clearly don't and proof that half of them don't know what they're on about.

Thankfully I've got reversing sensors but would quite like the Xenons. Wouldn't mind some second hand leather seats if the price is right.

They do now!

Hmm, just realised, most of my options serve only to bring the car up to GT spec (minus 80HP and a leather interior which I would not want anyway)! At least the mirrors, cruise control and reverse park sensors are optional across the range...

I would have gone for GT spec and xenons if it was my own car and not a company car. And definately reversing sensors!
