I'm quite liking it actually (in 3 door form). Some of the detailing is just subtle enough (i.e. red line running through headlights, shape of eyes within the headlamp unit etc.)
When's the new look GTD announced?
Any ideas on pricing Kev (or anyone)?

Front looks very Scirocc'ish.
Like the new lights. I think that they are part of the new VW look with square lights front and rear.
The rest of the car is neutral as a Golf needs to be, without being too boring.
All in all, I like it. Still love the Roc more though

So it looks like they are bringing back the GTi red stripe - as was copied by many others later.

Pricing for the 2013 Mk7 Volkswagen Golf will start from £16,330 for the base 1.2-litre TSI S model and rise to £24,625 for the DSG equipped 2.0-litre TDI range topper.
Volkswagen revealed the full price list today. Initially, three and five-door S, SE and GT spec models will go on sale, with GTI and Bluemotion models joining the line-up later in 2013.
Four petrol and two diesel engines will be available from launch, and all come with a fuel saving stop-start system as standard.
A 1.2-litre TSI petrol – in 84bhp and 104bhp states of tune – kicks-off the range, costing up to £18,811 in DSG equipped, five-door form.
The larger 1.4-litre TSI petrol starts at £17,501 and can be had with 120bhp or 138bhp. The more powerful unit features Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), a system that cuts two of the four cylinders when not under heavy load to improve fuel economy. Volkswagen claims it will return 60.1mpg on the combined cycle.
Base diesel units cost from £18,955 for the 104bhp 1.6-litre TDI, while the range topping 148bhp 2.0-litre TDI can be had from £21,305 in SE and GT trims only.
Gearbox options are a mixture of five and six-speed manuals, and six and seven-speed DSG, depending on model.
Entry-level cars come with seven airbags, ESP, DAB radio and air-con. SE trim adds rain-sensitive wipers, 16-inch alloys, a multi-function steering wheel and brushed stainless steel interior trim.
Top-spec GT level cars get 17-inch alloys, front fog lights, tinted glass, gloss black interior trim, a 5.8inch touchscreen sat-nav and media system, and Alcantara sports seats.
Volkswagen dealers are taking orders from the 18 October, with deliveries expected to begin in January next year.

Hmm, trouble is - Golf owners (and I have been one for ten years now) have been spoiled by the Match models, particularly on the Mk.VI, with all its extra kit. The Mk.VI Match came out much earlier than expected and became a standard part of the range, replacing the SE, rather than the run-out model it had been in previous variants. It will be interesting to see when they release the Mk.VII Match - for SE owners it will be an annoyance as on the Mk.VI its essentially an SE with around £1,500 of 'free' extras and, of course, renders their often quite new SE's obsolete!.

Brochures and configurator are now up on the UK VW site for the Mk7.
