He managed to get his car off the road, but I couldn't resist giving him a wave as I came past.

I enjoy putting my foot down when you can tell the person next to you has lined up for a race. I was surprised I beat a 330D the other day. the 0-60 are similar but i had a bm as my last car and its easier to get your power down in a rear wheel drive car because all you weigh shifts to the back over the drive wheels when you set off so you get good traction. In the scirocco the weight shifts to the back leaving the front light on a front wheel drive car that just results in lots of axle tramp at the top end of 1st gear.

have to admit whilst the rocco attracted a lot of attention never really seemed to attract the boy racer brigade, for me i was never a fan of the traffic light grand prix (as like to preserve the clutch) but always savour a bit of 50-70mph fun in gear (especially in a mapped car), oddly both our Golf's have seemed to be towing bread van Civic Type R's this week but by the time they've dropped two gears to find some power you're gone, fair play for trying though

its not all about the power though, favourite moment for me in the rocco was its last drive with all the suspension and brakes mods on but on stock mode engine file, car absolutely mullered Mrs W's GTI (which had a 100bhp advantage and she is a pretty good driver) and did have a wry smile when she pulled up wound down the window and said 'can you make my golf go round corners and stop like that'

Had my first boy racer experience in the R yesterday.

I'll set the scene....
Set of traffic lights leading onto a two lane dual carriageway that is 30mph for about half a mile then goes up to 40mph.

I pull away in the right lane and am following 3 cars in front of me doing approx 30 - 35mph the left lane also had a string of cars.
I notice in my mirror a red corsa (later saw it was a 1.2) weaving in and out the traffic and comes flying up my arse and sits about a foot off my rear bumper.
We then hit the 40mph speed limit and I stayed at 35mph he sat on my bumper for about 5 seconds and decided he would try and undertake me, I waited until he was in the left lane and I put my foot down slightly which obviously sent him a little way back in my rear view mirrors. :D

1/4 mile up the road he catches up again and sits off my bumper while im doing 40 mph. The speed limit then climbs again to 60mph at this point I looked at him in my rear view mirror, waved and accelerated and continued waving until he was a very small spec in my mirror, needless to say he stayed along way from my bumper after that.
