They don't tend to put their long term reports online but I can try and scan it monday if you want.
I wondered if it was the clutch banging in. It tends to happen if you jump straight from the brake to the throttle. Normally there's a tiny delay before the car starts to creep but if you get on the power I wonder if the clutch bangs in a bit too sharp.
The up change pop is a different noise altogether.
Yep, can't find it online, but a short, one paragraph, at the back of this week's Autocar says something like 'We've finally found a fault - a bang when pulling away, which I think might be the diff engaging'. Pretty sure that's what he says - though he links it to the DSG somehow. I'm afraid I'm not technical enough to understand the interplay between diffs, DSG boxes and anything else...

If the standard open diff is making a noise then it may be broken. Can't say I've heard of many cases tho.
Sure they're nit getting confused with axle tramp/wheel hop? Happened on my GTI and does so on the R. Both have OEM engine mounts. Updating the mounts to poly bush items plus adding the WALK can help reduce it.
