Hi All

interesting topic as I've just got a new scirocco and asked the question about retro fitting cruise control. The answer i got was VW will contact you in next 2/6 months when the kit is avalible.
After looking at this topic Iwon't be holding my breath......

You have to change the ecu if you have one of 3 or 4 control units which arent compatable fitted and a steering wheel bolt which they say must be replaced.
Change the ECU !!!!, or just the steering controller

Steering column ecu thats what i meant.

My car is booked in next week to have it fitted. Dealer confirmed the kit has only just come available. Good timing as only purchased the car last week and was just enquiring if it could be retrofitted! Happy days!

I called my local dealer today for a quote on my MY2010 Roc.. Being told currently that its only being issued to customers on the waiting list, but they'll register my interest.

Also cost including fitting and VAT is approx £400... Sounds a bit steep, but then quotes above don't clarify if fitting or VAT is included.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks

Thanks, would appreciate the heads up... I'm keen to get it fitted, but want to make sure I don't get charged over the odds =)

Were you on the 'waiting list' then? I thought I'd heard these kits were now widely available, but my dealer suggests otherwise due to the delay in getting the technical solution

Cheers

It will be about £240 for the kit fitted but if it needs the steering column ecu they are about £160,they have quoted you worse case scenario Maq by the sounds of it. They are only supplying them to people who definatly want it doing or who have been waiting so if you actually book the car in they can email VW your details and they will send the kit out probably within a couple of days.

There is not really any way to be sure wether you need the column ecu with going on diagnostic machine and getting part number of ecu fitted, the compatable versions are up on vagcom page already

Thats top info, much appreciated.. I will do a scan to see what I have but I'm happy knowing it seems to make sense :)

My info is registered with VW via my dealer, so just awaiting the call now.. Could be days or months I guess =)

Sorry, I'm not following... :)

So far I've enquired through the dealer and confirmed I'd like it done as soon as possible, so they've apparently emailed VW and are awaiting advice on when the kit will be available, due to the whole waiting list thing going on.

Are you suggesting there are other steps we can take to get it fitted sooner?

I was debating cruise control, to have it fitted is £235 which seemed steep. Never used CC before....

However you guys say that it be easily fitted afterwards for less?

Anyone know guys in Bristol area who do it? I don't want to take it to VW Bristol as my opinion of them is very low

The kits are available now and have been for a month or two, they may have logged your interest with Volkswagen but if they havent rang you by now they must have forgot, ring your dealer and make sure they have ordered you one.
