Ok, spoke to VW customer services again and my unconfirmed build date has shifted to week 45.

Still no sign of a fixed date. But VW have again offered the support car FOC due to the delays, which are still being touted as Dsg related and due to demand.

Tempted to can the order, but will probably hold out.

Still yet to see one on the road, with delays like this not surprised. On a general update perspective to to comply with my OCD can you post your order week and build week in replies I.e 19/45 please

week 12/13 for order.
build week - unknown (not on system yet)

Whats going on with VW?

You would have thought with the recession that they would be knocking cars out quicker than this.

But then again, we just cancelled a Merc order due to stock issues.

For what it is worth. Originally VW stated they would release so many R's in each production year, ie 1st batch - MY2010. 1st year saturated. So orders that missed out have been assigned to the second batch - MY2011. Just a thought.

However DSG boxes much like engines (another perennial component type to be short in supply) are manufactured internally. iirc the kassel plant is used to assemble all DSG gearboxes.

Supply shortages due to external suppliers is somewhat understandable, internal shortages less so. My current golf was "delayed" due to DSG shortages two years ago for VW to still have the same problem is really quite unforgivable.

Had another call from my dealer the other day...... my previous post stated that I was confirmed with expected delivery end of Oct/beginning of Nov (a 12 month wait for the car)

The latest is that my car has gone FROM scheduled build BACK to confirmed but not scheduled! The new system has 3 codes... 00 = dealer ordered; 10 = confirmed order, not scheduled and 20= scheduled. Mine has slipped back to 10.

Dealer now has some senior bloke from the company (area manager) on the case and he has had VW agree that my wait is beyond acceptable.... he is pushing VW to get my car prioritised at every stage from production to shipping etc. We'll have to see what happens.

Everytime I start wishing for my car I have to read this and it makes me feel lucky I have only been waiting since March. Last I heard I was confirmed week 45 as far as I am aware, which would prob put me at a December delivery... you just know because of that we will have the harshest winter in years and i will barely drive the thing.... grrrr

I managed to get an update from the dealer today and I am looking at week 46. Which I would imagine means a nice christmas present hopefully.

Good news is I will be eligible for a courtesy car. You cant blame the dealer but I never thought I would have been waiting this long when I ordered the vehicle.

At least it will make me more grateful when it finally arrives!!

Can't get hold of my dealer to find out a build week!

Week 32/33 order, no further details yet. Dealer suggested five months as realistic but not guaranteed. They've fixed the trade in on the mini so (vat notwithstanding) all I need is patience. Since I spent nine months in 1999 waiting for an Impreza Turbo I'm not worrying yet...

It looks like my wait will not be a record 12months (just!)

I am confirmed wb 27th September!! So I should be getting my car before the end of October.. I hope - dealer thinks it will be. There is a man at VW head office tracking my order and ensuring priority at every stage he can.

Actually finally feeling a bit of excitement now... for the first time since i placed the order back on 30th October 2009!
