It's the Pano roof thats causing the latest delays. I ordered in August! still not confirmed
Preliminary build week 4

Spoken to my dealer this morning, he's said my car now has a build date of WEEK 21!!!! WTF
apparently same story as martyd, Pano roof issues....
The only slight silver lining is that the dealer spoke to VW directly and they are unofficially saying week 12 build 'IF' they resolve the pano issue. But even this still puts my order into March when I specifically wanted the car for the 1st March, hence ordering in Sept.
come on VW this is just not good enough... You'd think with current financial crisis they'd be pulling out all the stops to keep customers happy. Maybe it's a VAG group thing, I waited six months for the delivery of my mk1 Leon Cupra R
Just waiting for the dealer to get back with the estimated build date (after ordering at the end of Nov and being told to expect mid Feb to early March!) I'll post the response as soon as, but meantime I was wondering about this 20 week delivery thing. I read on the forum some time ago a post where they said if the delivery exceeded 20 wks from ordering then VW would supply a courtesy car. Does anyone know whether or not this is true?

It was me who posted this info, this came from my VW dealer when i was looking at around 24 weeks total delivery time. They only give you the car for a maximum of four weeks. Apparently the car is a hire car supplied by VW UK not the dealer, this is something that the dealer and VW UK should arrange on your behalf. If your dealer hasn't heard about this then mention it and get them to investigate or ring VW customer services yourself for clarification.

Cheers for that Jon, I appreciate it. The Dealers being very slow getting back to me - Do you think he's building up to giving me some bad news?
Just wanted to be armed with as much info as possible before I spoke to him, still early days at the moment but it isnt half frustrating!

I am seriously reconsidering now - If I don't get a build week in Jan that's it. Six months is long enough to wait for any car - This is not an Aston Martin and if VW can't get their act together in the current climate, then they don't deserve the sale.

I understand your frustration, as per my previous post, my build week is 21, and I only got that back end of last week. As you've got a pano roof also, I would expect a similar build week. But that aside, you should have this confirmed by now? Is it the dealer who's slow, or can they confirm there is no build date? You could always speak to VW customer services, give them your 'Comm' no and ask why there is no build date.
As a matter of interest, have you modified your spec at all since your original order? I was originally told that you can alter your spec upto the point of an assigned build date, which I did a couple of times; but the dealer now tells me that this changes the order date and can push back your build week!

One of the things that is doing my head in is the complete lack of communication from the dealer, unless I chase them. If it's week 21 they can forget it. The only change I made was to add the smokers pack, which I was told would not adversely affect the build week as it was still unconfirmed.
As a matter of interest, how many of us are in this panoramic roof situation? What exactly is causing the delay?
I'm in the same situation of having to constantly chase the dealer only to be told that he'll get back to me because the dialogue system is down! I smell sh*te!!!! Another phone call will be made today and I'll post what is said later. I do have the Pano Roof, which when I ordered I had heard on the forim of possible delays but the dealer said there shouldnt be any problem - it was just the xenons apparently, so I didnt spec them. This appears to be getting silly - I couldnt agree more that 6 months is an absolutley ridiculous time to wait. Lets just hope they get there finger out!

Have to agree my dealer is useless. I've had to chase them constantly to get my order sorted, now this delivery issue. I would have asked about the delay on the pano roofs myself, but just couldn't face the hassle of getting the dealer to do anything.
on the build front, my spec change wasn't anything major, just removal of standard mats and addition of winter pack, so nothing structural such as roof, so I don't understand why my build date was so late...
it really does take the shine off having a crap dealer..
my dealer was excellant, a smallish dealership but part of a locaal group, gave be an update on a monday every 2-3 weeks until it went confirmed then every week, vw moved the build weeks around but in the end picked it up on the day we had originally estimated, couldn't fault the service given i was trying to sell my own car privately so trying to tie this in, came to a sensible solution when a spec issue came to light, indeed service people have been good with a few teething issues and the salesman has assisted on some of these issues, problem they have is proably not your first choice in that local area, whilst everyone likes a deal some dealers don't grasp the customer service side so you at least return in 3 years time
Things are looking up
The dealer has found a car in the country with a pretty closely matching spec - hopefully I'll pick it up before the month is out

That's good news... hope your getting a discount if the specs not what you were looking for!
JaseW wrote:That's ok then, very pleased for you... just wish i could have some similar luck!
JaseW, not sure how much longer you have to wait but there is a White, Pano Roof, DSG, Dynaudio, Black Leather, Parking Sensors in Manchester which is a demo. Availible in about 8 weeks apparently or maybe earlier if you can convince the dealer.

cheers mate, funnily enough I'd spotted that and have a printed PDF sat on my desktop just in case the build gets pushed back. Don't know how much i'd get off it, it's pretty specced up!
I know of the following also which is available immediately, maybe able to negotiate on the price also.
2.0 GT TSI, MANUAL, White, Pano Roof, Sat Nav, Black Leather, Winter Pack, Parking Sensors, 5000 miles £22990 although you probably have your mind set on a DSG one.

Well I spoke with the other dealers re the upcoming ex dealer demo.. typically they are still living in this bubble where cars are flying out the showrooms. They weren't willing to budge below £24k for the car!
On the home front, my dealer contacted me with an update of sorts... here's an extract
"The official build week is 21 due to issues with the panoramic roofs, yet the generalist team (who deal with these kind of queries) indicated there was some chance that these could be resolved and it possibly would come forward to week 12. To give you a baseline this week is week 2.No timescales where given for an update and I have just rang to chase it again and got the same response, scheduled for week 12 build but not confirmed and wouldn't commit to when it will confirm."
So it looks like VW are playing it close to the chest with the Pano issue. Does anyone know what the actual problem is?
