is there an engineering reason for such robbery, or are they just playing the game?
i think i'll stick with calf control and a bit of concentration...
Their site says plus vat so £360. Given the parts are around £250 retail, £110 is an awful lot for half an hour's labour and a bit of coding. And I bet they get the parts at trade too...Shaun wrote:£300 for cruise fitted by http://www.vwcruise.com/129.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I really hope that the new stalk does not need changing the steering wheel controller... if so, retrofitting will cost almost the same as 2009 cars, around 150-180€...Starshaped wrote:VW has these new kits instock ready to go but they arent releasing them until they have done technical checks on uk cars,i expect they will be available pretty soon.
I had this same issue, but they didnt tell me till I had arrived to pick the car up and then they had there valeters scratch every panel instead! Fair awap apparantly....still arguing this case and so far I havent got anything free and when leicester had it back to re cut and mop it (only 100 miles out of my way) they did a half arsed job of it!ashley1407 wrote:Hey Guys and Gals.
Just a quick heads up for everyone. I phoned VW head office in Milton Keynes the other day wanting to check out the situation if you want to retrofit cruise control to your Roc. The story so far:
I opted to have cruise retrofitted to my car as it was cheaper that having it as a factory fitted option. When my car arrived at the dealers they attempted to fit the cruise but the connections were different to what they were expecting.
It appears as though there was a hidden change in the week 45 (2009) cars that meant the current VW retrofit kit was made obsolete.
So to cut a longer story short the retrofit kit for post week 45 cars does not yet exist but will be released 'imminently' whatever that means! The moral of the story is don't be a cheapskate and order it as a factory fitted option so that you don't end up waiting like me!
Ahh well, I'll try and squeeze some discounted stainless sill plates out of the dealer for my waiting!
Change the ECU !!!!, or just the steering controllerStarshaped wrote:The kits are available now but they are supplying them to people who have been waiting for them first,get in touch with your dealer and they will be able to get one for you by emailing volkswagen your details.
You have to change the ecu if you have one of 3 or 4 control units which arent compatable fitted and a steering wheel bolt which they say must be replaced.
So after all the steering controller has to be changed. That is strange, because in the ETKA the older stalk had a remark saying that the steering wheel controller should be compatible... The new stalk with the different order code doesn't say anything about that...Shaun wrote:Change the ECU !!!!, or just the steering controllerStarshaped wrote:The kits are available now but they are supplying them to people who have been waiting for them first,get in touch with your dealer and they will be able to get one for you by emailing volkswagen your details.
