Thanks dude! Haha yeah that's me
A bit of an update and some progress made! Today I de-tango'd my standard side light/indicator units as my aftermarket DRL's have given up after a mere 2 months use
. It was surprisingly easy to do - I haven't fitted them yet so pics to come, but some before and after pics below.
Comparison:
Both complete:
If anyone would benefit from a guide on how to do so I have plenty of pics so can easily whip one up!
I also finally got round to lacquering my winter wheels. I am so happy with the finish, they are incredibly shiny. It was quite hard to picture, but have some pics anyway:
I met up with Benny1703 at the weekend also, got some pics with my potato cam. It would be rude not to share...
Hope you like!

I'm sending my drl units back. Been in contact with the seller and informed them of the poor quality and reliability issues. They are going to give a full refund.

With a Dremil I'd say. That how I did mine, cut the unit in half and glued back together. The problem I found was that the amber LED you can buy in the correct fitment are too big to fit through the bulb hole so ended up with orange bulbs. I also tinted mine slightly so they blend in a bit.

Slightly off topic as it's not the scirocco but years back I did what Tom's done to my old fto indicator/fog unit bits. You put them in the oven until the glue is soft enough to take them apart, de-fried egg them units & push back together before sealing them back up

Just thought, you will need 2 h21w orange bulbs. If you havent ordered any I have some spare when I did mine if you want them?

Cheers guys! Yeah I used a dremmel then unclipped the Orange lens inside. I haven't done much research on bulbs yet either
Ben, I want to try and find a yellow/Amber LED so there's no orange at all when they're not illuminated.
Today I planned on finishing my wheels and perhaps sealing up my sidelights ready to put back on the car. Turns out vinyl wrapping is much harder than it looks - took 3 people, 4 hours to do 2 wing mirrors (and several attempts/wasted vinyl!!) ...who knew?
Here are some before/during and after pics. We ended up taking the caps off in the end haha:

Tom what about the weird iridium coated bulbs? That's what I used years back in my fto ones, obviously not led but it solves the colour issue.

These ones on ebay (
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251529940117?_t ... mwBanner=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) while fitting the holder don't actually fit through the hole in the back of the unit so are useless. It's a shame as they would have been perfect. They're the only LED ones I could find when I did my indicators.
I'm currently running orange normally and to be honest they're barely visible.

Hey Tom,
Car is still looking mint as always. You got any in-depth photos of getting the orange filter out want to do this to mine as just ruins the look of the front of the car.
Thanks
Tom

Thanks for the comments guys!! Removing the Orange lens is quite simple really! Take a dremmel and go to town cutting a fancy shape out of the top of the side light unit. Something similar to this:
Once done, remove the plastic part and use a flat head screw driver to remove the Orange lens (it just pops out of place):
All you need to do then is reseal the unit either with plastic welding or some waterproof sealant, and jobs a gooden!
Meanwhile, these arrived today! An alcantara custom trimmed engine cover and carbon battery cover. The plastic cover on the engine cover looks a little dodgy as I tried out some plastidip - I'm going to redo it properly before putting on the car:
Comments welcome as always, cheers!

Haha! It is a showpiece but it'll be on daily! Apparantly it can withstand the engine heat... Time will tell

yeah I'm keen to put the standard wheels back on for a couple of reasons:
1) The last show I'm attending this year is the beginning of August, so no need to keep the show wheels on any longer and risk damage/kerbing.
2) You can never predict English weather!
3) They are potentially being sold next month to make way for something new next show season!
I did some edits last night of wheel colours, I personally think anthracite looks the best - just looks clean and oem+. (Less is more!) ...thoughts?

Anthracite:
Teal:

Those engine bits look really nice! where abouts did you get them made? Want to spice up the engine bay a bit soon, thinking of the TTs cover. Looks like you did a good job on the vinyl wrapping too, don't suppose your mates want to wrap my rear diffuser gloss black do they
