Ok I hope this is going to help.....

The old stalk is 5K0 953 521 D

It simply pulled off the column when the tags were released, no removal of security bolts/screws.

Sussed it out!

In the pic below, look at the 3 yellow outlined areas, these are the 3 spring clips! Doh! Once released the stalks separate from the lock carrier.............Why do VW not sell just the stalks, instead of the whole assembly!

It wasn't obvious from the assembled stalks, just has a play in the garage! Anyhow it can retro fitted and coded to work.

Still stand the fact that a D version slip-ring and SW cont does not work! You need the H variant..............

How do I know what slip ring I have, is it somthing I can find out off Vagcom or is it a visual check with a partial strip down? though I suppose mine will be the D version that seems to be fitted as standard..... :?

Hi,

You can find out using Vagcom. note - The Slip ring and steering wheel cont are combined. I would suggest that it is likely you will have a D version.

If I recall we recoded the steering wheel controller, then simply checked the cruise function on the long coding helper.

I bought my cruise stalk on UK eBay, thre are usually a few listed.

Then I used ture's guide to fit it, all went well, see below:

http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =25&t=2228" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Several people have had cruise retro-fitted by dealers, but shop around, they don't all charge the same.

Re: Retrofitted Cruise Control post week 45 (2010) cars only

I specced CC on my week 7 2011 R. When it was delivered I was told they misbuilt the car and forgot the CC (I was told that I should be grateful as some cars are misbuilt with the wrong colour!) That ineptitude aside I was told that it could be retrofitted at the dealers and they would phone me when the parts came in. I havent chased them as I've been reluctant to give my R to anybody or anything!!!

This has however prompted me to chase it up, so I will keep you posted, but they did confirm it can be easily retrofitted.

What situation ?, the programming is OK
I mean what exactly do you need to retrofit cruise control in 2010 cars because i didn't understand much from earlier posts? Do you need another controller as well as the cc stalk? What are the prices for both?

Yes you need new controller, new stalks and then it needs programming, if you get the parts from VW it will be around £260 ?, possibly a bit less, VWCruise are doing it for £300 fitted

Hi,

I'm a recent owner of a used Scirocco 2010. can anyone explain why VW can't retr fit a cruise control to my car even though they were available on earlier models. Also went to have fitted a 'hands free kit' and instead of having with controls from the steering wheel and the central screen they fitted a tacky add on LCD screen on the dashboard, what a load of crap.

Dissapointed from Bath

:welcome:

Basically they changed to the electronics and design in the steering column and haven't provided a retro compatible kit for post week 45 2010 build Sciroccos.

Fitting Bluetooth isn't a major issue and the newest VW integrated unit is a fairly easy retro fit. All the parts can be bought new on eBay for just over £200ish.

As for cruise for a 2010 model it can be done, have a little search - from memory it's mike-p who has done it.

I had cruise retrofitted by the dealer when I bought mine, initially they said couldn't but luckily mine was just before the deadline being a 59 plate.

They did give a reason of cruise as a retrofit having to get separate approval or something - sounded fishy to me.

Did you use Bath VW for the work? I've just had mine serviced there and was really impressed with the service/efficiency.
