Your situation frankly sounds odd to me Alaska seeing as you have not ordered a DSG or anything special.
First off i'd say go & get your comission number from your dealer, this is 6 digits and the number of your order on the main VW system
not the number on your invoice from your dealer which is your order on their dealer system. With your comission number you can ring VW customer services and find out what it says on their system which used to be updated more often than the dealer systems (not sure now as they had a system overhaul earlier this year)
Hope that helps, once you have that comission number & have rung VW customer services to find out what their update is shout back & we'll see where we can go from there

I did as suggested and all customer services could offer was that the order had been placed and was awaiting acknowledgment by the factory. They also confirmed what the dealer said in that its looking less likely to be November delivery based on me not having a build date yet. Following this I emailed my concerns to the dealer and explained that we made decisions to not get a second had car in the interim based on advice given on delivery when placing the order. If the delivery now shifts to December, January etc this is a pretty big inconvenience to us. Seems dealer/customer service are powerless. Amazes me really as makes you wonder if VW really want my custom?
Thanks for the advice though

hmm still doesn't seem right, i'd ring one or both (customer services and/or dealer) back & ask specifically what the hold up is as we have other members (just tell them you know of other people with similar orders) who have put in orders around the same time & are due to take delivery in the coming weeks.
S
eta: ask customer services when the order was lodged on the VW system & compare to the date you ordered with the dealer, its my understanding this should be a few days (perhaps a week at most)...

I also just spoke to customer services:
- The first thing they tried to do was to contact my retailer to get them to investigate. But since Friday afternoon is hand-over time at Motorline Tunbridge Wells, no-one was available. When I asked the VW rep, he said "the retailer can see the same system, at the same time", but he would "see if he could get someone here to look at it, please hold".
Two minutes later "there's nothing showing on the system, it just shows as an order, with no further details". (order was placed 14th August).
"It's not unusual to see this".
"You would only get a confirmed build date four weeks before the build"
Your retailer "may be able to give you an unconfirmed build date, but we only see the confirmed build".
DSGs "have been causing delays, but only for some chassis numbers. Yours doesn't seem to be affected".
"The Scirocco is very popular"
Very apologetic about the lack of details.

for the next person to ring customer services & get a similar response to above the question to ask is.. so why can the dealers give estimated build weeks if they see the same system then?

Sorry, missed a sentence: "they might be able to give you an estimate because they see so many orders at once, whereas we only see one at a time". Which sounds odd, but I guess they mean that the retailer uses his or her skill and judgement, experience, time of day and wind speed/direction to give an estimated/unconfirmed build date.
In other words, an unconfirmed build week is as useful as the proverbial chocolate tea pot. It would appear to be an entirely invented entity, not backed by anything concrete. Which the name sort of suggests...

thanks for that update rob, so bascially they are saying their new fantasmagorical system that left them running blind for 2 weeks + is worse than their old one at assisting their customer service abilities. so they have gone from clear vision to blind to seriously fogged up spectacles
great.

Based on a sample size of one support call - yes. But previous posts in this forum have suggested that not all support operatives are equal, so I'll hold fire for the moment

This was the email response I got from the dealer
"At the moment the only thing we can do is chase VW on a daily basis, which we are doing. Having spoken to VW yourself, you will appreciate that we have a number of customers in the same position and are as keen as you to get build dates."

It's odd that there is still such long lead times,my dealer had about 7 or 8 Scirocco's on display last week with about £2k off them all.

The Don - In light of the previous few postings on this thread please update if and when your dealer confirms your build date as if you get a confirmed build date next week having ordered on the 28th I think I'll be having words with my dealer.

I'll keep you posted, to be honest it might be down to spec. Apart from leather and Bluetooth I don't really have many extras. So I guess that might have something to do with it.
Who knows, my dealer could be spinning me a line too.
As I said, I'll keep you posted.

I ordered mine (1.4 TSi DSG) on 21 July and was told today it won't arrive until the beginning of November. I was also told mine was built and checked but due to industrial action at the factory, it can't be delivered... My current car (BMW 120d M Sport Auto) is or was due to go back today. I had to contact the leasing company to extend it.
Is this a load of rubbish...?
Cheers

That may explain why the ship due to pick up Sciroccos Sunday 3rd October cut short its sailing and has gone back to Germany from North Spain.

I managed to get a cancelled order so only placed order a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure I was told week 41 build but as of yet I ain't got a confirmed build week. They said it would be delivered first week of November. I just want to change my colour from White to blue.
