Hi Jim,
Thanks for that, in that case can you tell me what spec yours is then I can compare?
And how did you get it working?

Still waiting for my car
In the meantime, a quick thought about the mirrors and DRLs, as I can't find a mention of it.
Can someone who doesn't have the mirrors working try the same procedure, but for the right-hand mirror? (i.e mirror control to 'R', car into reverse, adjust RHS mirror, drive off at >5mph......)
My thought was has the car/settings somehow got confused and thinks it is a LEFT-hand-drive, therefore the right mirror would dip automatically.
This thought may be especially relevant to all those lucky people who've changed the options to disable the DRLs by telling the system the car is used in another country (where they drive on the 'wrong' side of the road)

Sorry - not checked back here for a while. Interesting to see that martdy doesn't have xenons, so looks like that can be excluded from the equation. Got it working by following previous guidance on here or scirocconet - ie select left on mirror control, then put box into reverse. Manuallly adjust mirror to where you want it in future when selecting reverse. Leave mirror on L setting. Drive away >5mph. Mirror should adjust back to normal. Select reverse again with mirror still on L. Should then move down to position as set previously.

I tried the right mirror this morning, didn't work for me.
Then again I don't have the option in the MFD.
Has anyone had the function working without the option being visible in the MFD.
Also, has anyone got it working by simply changing the MFD with VAG-COM?
It would be really good to try to track down what is required to have this working, i.e. is it a particluar option or combination of options? Or is it a manufacturing date thing?

OK; I have folding mirrors, no electric seats or Xenons and "Mirror Down" works fine.

I hope it is on later cars, mine is due for build this week. I have this on my current golf and find it great for parking to avoid the scrubbing of the alloy wheels. I asked about this when i placed my order but got the typical dumb response from the salesman. Has anyone else who has got one recently got this working as standard?

It's beginning to look like the later cars that have folding mirrors and parking sensors get the mirror down function........?

Jim, is your profile correct? Do you have folding mirrors? You seem to be the exception to the rule at the minute, no folding mirror option but have the mirror down function.

Had some time on my hands. I have put together a table of everyones specs who has posted on this thread in a vain attempt to get some closure on this issue. I have limited it to the main suspects when it comes to options, Xenon, park sensors, winter pack, folding mirrors. I used the autofilter function in excel to try and find a pattern but as far as i can tell there isn't one. No combination of these options appears to garantee that you will have the mirror down function. There are some flaws to the information as it doesn't take into account RHD / LHD or the full list of options.

My mirror down worked from the start , I have the folding mirror option (and the only other extras are cruise and tyre monitors) so no reversing sensors.
Are people saying that the mirror adjustment always has to be set on L for it to work as I think it didn't do it the last time I reversed. Will check it out tomorrow - good fun these Rocs!!

Yep always set to L otherwise it doesn't work.

Good work there jonallen628.
Shame it doesn't show a clear pattern - I'm surprised that it doesn't. However as you say some factors are missing. The age of each car may also make a difference but you don't have that information.
Also there may be some contributors who say they don't have Mirror down function but they just haven't set it up properly.

So, I put the car into VW to see if they could get the function working as I have Mirror Down in the MFD (activated via VAG-COM) - onsite tech couldn't help so they raised it with VW UK Technical who said my chasis number doesn't have that function (go figure) but the guy in servicing couldn't tell me what I would need (options wise) to actually have that function! So we're none the wiser...
