Transporting new tv in the car! Supprised how easiy it fit! Practical and fun! Just have to remember to drive carfully on the way home! Don't want a tv flying out the back window

I finally took delivery of a set of mats that I ordered on may 9th. I think they built the car quicker than that

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Went to the VW Garage told them about squeaky windows and rattles. They treated all the seals and put felt under the bits that were rattling all in 10 mins in the car park! No appointment needed Also gave me a free roll of the sticky back felt. Great service.
Got home and put felt under the bonnet stay to stop that rattling and on one of the panels under the car
Hoping rattle free!

Went on & came off fine really. Think it might of had a better look now if I'd of done everything in one day rather than since Sunday lol.
Anyway it's like this now

Dropped off my spare rear bumper and Votex lower skirt off to be painted at the bodyshop.
Replaced my faulty reverse light switch in the gearbox.
Repaired broken wire on my led foglight ballast.
Used Autoglym black dye to darken my honeycomb grille as it was looking a bit grey after having the rest colour coded.

Looks nice mate! Is it possible you can tell me what LEDS's you used and where you got them from? I've read a guide on here and the ones on it didn't fit fully into the bulb holder.easyrider wrote:
led bulbs in footwells at 100% brightness. soon to be turned red.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
what i found out: everyone says the footwell leds need to be canbus but i'm almost sure they don't. but they're certainly not easy to fit for a novice like me. i ended up buying more light clusters for a tenner from vw as i broke a couple.
eventually realised there're two small pieces of metal on the terminals bent at 90 degrees that hold the led/bulb in from the sides. trying to force the leds in pushes on these and bends the terminals - unless it's perfectly lined up. look close, you'll see them from the side.
so get the led as flat to the connection as you can and perfectly in the middle and ease in with a tiny screwdriver. pushing it in at an angle will bend the terminals, and if you feel resistance, stop and move the led slightly, then try again. only way i could get them in, but they're great and well worth it. bought more clusters than i needed so i've got a red and a white set. easier to change the clusters than the bulbs!
footwells i think it's these:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and these are great for the dome lights - the 4 smd leds (as above) are SOO bright in the domes. these with two smds (one on each side rather than 4 on one side) are dimmer, with a more even light. kinda rare, too. other good leds from this site too:
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/501-w5w-2- ... lbs-white/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
i wrapped them in red brake light film (3 layers) (link: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and they're like this now:

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Good job! I take it the red film that you have applied just peels back and sticks on? You don't need a heat gun etc?easyrider wrote:what i found out: everyone says the footwell leds need to be canbus but i'm almost sure they don't. but they're certainly not easy to fit for a novice like me. i ended up buying more light clusters for a tenner from vw as i broke a couple.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
yep, sticky backed plastic, no heat gun required - just used a scalpel to cut the overlapping edges / burnish the wrinkles out. i used three layers, could have done 4 but was losing brightness the more i put on.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
the 4 smds linked above have a blue tinge. i tried about 6 different types, all slightly different (some pure white).

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Took "Suzie" into a local garage as emissions light came on whilst being down on power. Cylinder 1 misfiring apparently, still not fixed.
Garage provided me with a Mitsubishi Colt, which I only drive around in the dark!
