Hi
Anyone else having trouble getting a build date out of VW, I ordered my car some 7 weeks ago but still have no idea of a build date let alone a delivery date. As it stands I'm considering if I should cancel the whole thing and look at getting a totally different car! How long has it taken other people to get a build date, I've never had this trouble with BMW or Mercedes what's going on at VW????

Hi Mark
first question; have you actually asked your dealer what your estimated build date is?
it may seem a stupid question but not all dealers automatically tell you what your estimated build date is, they don't all realise that some people are 'educated' in the matter & if they do tell you they don't necessarily tell you every single change in date as again they don't realise some of us go searching for the whats wheres hows etc and also they don't want to worry people unduely by telling them if their build date gets put back.

Hi Trix
Yes is the short answer, I have been in contact with the stealer a number of times over the period since placing the order only to hear that VW have accepted the order but have not provided a date! Stealers estimate (guess) was originally Oct / Nov for delivery however it now seems likely it will be later than this?? Seems like an odd way for VW to conduct business!

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I ordered mine on 8th September via a leasing company & they don't think we'll have the delivery date until October. They expect it to be mid-late November
Maybe they are holding back info until the cars are actually in production?

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I'm not sure if this is a problem with the lease company or VW, but I ordered mine on 23rd July, and build date was put back to this week with delivery late Oct /early Nov!
They're blaming it on delays with VW but has anyone else experienced this? Or am I being fobbed off by the lease company? It's only a standard 2.0lT GT.

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
i'm in exactly the same position Stoner - ordered mid July, promised delivery for 1st week Oct - now saying End Oct. - normally wouldnt mind so much, but my existing lease car goes back next Weds...
Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I have the same position too. I ordered mine in end of July and the sales told me the production week is 39th
Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Good to see I'm not the only one then. I've been told build week was week 38 so we'll see how long it takes for me to get it!

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
VW build dates are all over the place, I ordered a Tiguan in July and my Dealer was unable to give me a date, lost patience in September, called in to cancel order at the same time as a Scirocco 1.4 160 in Candy White was being unloaded from a transporter.
The rest is History!!

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Looks like VW cant keep up to the demands on this car.
Ordered a pearl black R-line at 1 july, saying delivery time would be somewhere around sept/oct. Now however dealer mailed me and estimated delivery time now is week 05 2011. Thats 7 months waiting time from order date.. Anyone else ordered the R-line, recieved similar delivery times?
Any thoughts on how i should confront the dealer with this?

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
the DSG may be the issue, not great I know but this has previously caused delays on orders before.
speak to the dealer, be blunt & ask what exactly is causing the delay as its cimply not good enough

Mine's being built this week! - very excited now!
Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Ordered Candy White GT 170 30th July 2010
After numerous phone calls to the dealer, I have received a Build date of Week 39 (this week)
Told to ring back in a couple of weeks, (not he will ring me)
Very disapponted with dealer/salesman, poor service that I have not received from other manufacturers.
I have owned three Minis and even though the wait for the second two was six months, a week after placing the orders I was given a collection date.
Cannot believe a company the size of VW takes 7 weeks to tell the customer when he may get his car, shame the bloody thing looks so nice.
Hopefully not long now!!

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Just got a mail from my lease company saying the factory have acknowledged the order and they are awaiting allocation of a build week..promising an update towards the end of next week. I imagine it'll be well after the wk44 revisions if there are any this year! Lets hope so, anything extra as standard much appreciated.
Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Forgot to add what was also said was :
'As you may or may not be aware that we are currently experiencing a large volume of Volkswagen orders due to the excellent campaigns across the VW range...'
I was called last Friday just as I was driving to the dealer to checkout the factory Bluetooth kit before I confirmed my order and told that the promo was coming to an end but I would be ok because my finance had been approved they'd honour the deal...i was ready to order anyway but I was sceptical, was this a last minute Friday afternoon to meet a sales target? I checked the lease company site earlier this week to find all the VW's had increased, the Scirocco by £70pcm without the extra annual mileage and extras I'd specified...let's hope can find another deal for my better 1/2 when her deal comes to an end next June...if she can ever make her mind up on what she wants!
Hope these extra orders don't translate into extra delay...I was pushing this back in Jan as the current car not due back until early Feb, it's looking now like I may be lucky to get delivery before the other is collected.

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I ordered a standard spec. White GT TDI 140 PS in beginning of August and was told to expect end of November. Its now October and no build date either estimate or confirmed given and doesn't look like getting one anytime soon. Been told to not expect delivery in November now. You know its bad when the dealer themselves admit that the service they are giving at the moment is terrible ! I don't have a car at the moment so this is really really annoying ! Anyone got any advice on anything you can do as a customer to speed this process up. Makes you wonder whether VW actually want to sell cars ??
