If it helps, 36,000 miles over 18 months, 46/47mpg generally - rarely got more than that and generally stick at 60 on A/B roads and 80/85 mph on motorways
There are loads of CR Diesel engine cars out there with brick like aerodynamics that what will turn out massively better MPG's - I think it is the massive Torque that is addictive and kills the MPG in the process!

Done 3,000 miles in my GT170 now ...
I'm getting 510-530 miles per tank with mixed driving... trip computer shows 51mpg on motorway runs sitting at 80-ish and around 45-47mpg round town... I had it down to 41mpg on Sunday morning but I was pushing along quite nicely...

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong either, I've got a new 2.0 GT 184 with about 2800 miles on the clock and I get about 36mpg (400 and a bit out of a full tank) with town driving. I drive like an old man too.

It will improve with some more miles on it.

Sounds like people are mixing up real mpg and mfd mpg in this topic.
If you want a correct mfd mpg reading you have to calibrate the fuel consumption with vcds in 07 - instruments adaptation. Then change fuel consumption correction. I have set it at 107% and its now very accurate ~2%

I use an app on my phone. Works out your MPG by you inputting the milage on the car and the amount (in litres) of fuel you put through it so it's pretty much 100% accurate if you fill the tank each time (which I do).

I'm using Fuel Log on Android. Have the 2 cars on there which has makes for some interesting comparisons.
Scirocco : 53 MPG.
Scooby: 23 mpg (on a good day).
