140 Bluemotion DSG getting rather low mpg ?
Just got my 140 BMT yesterday and I've done about 200+ miles already and on different journeys I've been getting mpg that's worse than my 1.4 (122). Best I seen when I really tried was 63 but I've seen 67.2 from my last roc. I thought the diesel would get over 70 if I really tried.
I'm usually seeing about 45 if I'm takin it easy and 35 if I'm booting it.
The car only has 7700 miles, is it maybe not run in enough ?
Should it loosen up and get better ?

Yeh that is low miles so will get better as it loosens up, it also may be doing a DPF regen cycle if its not been used for a while

Seems a bit low to me, my wife's CC 170 BM with DSG does around 45 mpg and it has done considerably less mileage.

Re: 140 Bluemotion DSG getting rather low mpg ?
My 170 will only just squeeze over 62mpg on a warm day taking it very steady. Normal motorway driving is mid to high 50's in the summer and low to mid 50s in the winter.
Just town driving then it can indeed be in the high 30s. 50/50 Mixture of both then somewhere in the 40s is the norm.
The one thing that really stikes me is the difference it makes where you are driving the car for the first few miles. If you are round town whilst the car is cold the mpg really suffers...

My TDI 140 with DSG has averaged 48mpg over one year from new.
I get 58mpg on a steady motorway cruise, and 43mpg in more spirited driving.
I've had a best of 64mpg (motorway, including roadworks with average speed cameras) and a worst of 32mpg (North York Moors, DSG in sport and not hanging around )

Re: 140 Bluemotion DSG getting rather low mpg ?
For some reason I got really good mpg today. Drove to work at a steady 60mph for about 10 miles and seen 73.2mpg :S god knows how I got that. Mind you it's kinda downhill most the way.
Then the next 14 miles brought it down to 68mpg which I drove through the town then parked at work.
So maybe there ISN'T a problem with it lol. Maybe I was just a bit heavy footed for the first 2 days haha.

Re: 140 Bluemotion DSG getting rather low mpg ?
I've seen a really big difference with the hotter weather this week. Our normal eight mile journey in cold weather returns 42mpg but this week it has nudged over the 51 mark. A good motorway drive saw around the 58 mark even at 80 mph. A blast over some Welsh mountain roads saw just 44. Who's a naughty boy then.

I never knew hot weather had any effect on fuel consumption :S

I got about 10mpg less through winter. Thought there was something wrong with my car for a while but now its warmed back up its back to what I was getting last summer...

Mine dropped 10 mpg in the winter as well. There's a thread about it somewhere.
Using harder acceleration always knocks 10-15mpg off mine whatever the conditions basically.
