2009 GT Stereo?
2009 GT Stereo?
Hi all im looking at a 2009 GT 140 Tdi but it has a rcd310 stereo, did they not come with rcd510s as standard?

In the UK I'm almost certain the 510 was standard from the start on all models.
Might be worth checking to see if it's an import.

Yes they did if it was a UK model but some Irish Scirocco's were brought across in late 2009 and they had RCD310's.
What size wheels does it have (17"?) and does it have the ACC button in the centre dash are also clues to it being imported by a particular dealer parent company.

Defo not an import, just cant see why anyone would put in a 310, they are cack!

OK,
Two other possiblities why the 310 is fitted..........
1) The previous owner swapped it with a friend before trading in, so they could upgrade the other car.
The way to prove that is the Build Sticker on the right side of the boot floor. If it was built with a RCD510 fitted, then the 3 alpha/digit code 8AI will be printed on the sticker as one of the option codes.
An implication if it has been swapped is the installation code of the RCD310. If the previous owner has not marked it on the unit in the dash and you have no obvious paperwork with the installation code (you wouldn't be asking otherwise) is that the unit may be worthless without it if you decide to replace.

Great reply mate! TBH i reckon its the 1st one but ill certainly be checking that code, its not an issue as the dealer is going to fit a 510 for me before i pick it up but its just niggling to why its in there! Its a main VW dealer and they are adament its not an import
