RNS310 - Thoughts?

Post by acbullock »

Hi all,

I've just found out that my new Scirocco will be coming with the RNS310! What are people's thoughts on this unit - is it any good?

Cheers!

I'm thinking of ordering a new Roc and have mixed feelings about the RNS310 and have considered upgrading it to a 510 unit if I do.
However I've read a few reviews and seen a couple of YouTube videos and it does seem to have its merits. Here's a few thoughts -
It is has a sat nav, where as my current RCD510 does not.
The display is a bit smaller.
It doesn't display the radio station names in the same clear way as the 510.
It doesn't come with a 6 disc CD changer, although I rarely play CDs now.
Its response to touch controls like scrolling thru a list of tracks or albums is much quicker than the 510.
Its satnav controls also operate quicker than the RNS510 unit.

Does that help ?

It does, thanks! I previously wasn't bothered about Sat Nav (which is why I was sticking with the then standard, non Sat Nav RNS510) as you couldn't enter the full length of the destination post code. I'm glad that it's been put in my Roc so hope I it's good! And I'm not too fussed about the 6CD changer as I can't remember the last year when I played a CD, so long as the iPod connection and Bluetooth stuff works I'll be more than happy. It is a shame the display is smaller than the RNS510, maybe I'll look at upgrading at a later date (if that's possible).

My god am I excited! :D
